The environment was the only good thing about this place.

The service was horrible. One server greeted us when we got in because she thought we were apart of a party group and then we didn't get served until we called another person over. We ordered tea and it took more 10 minutes to come. Nobody checked in on us. We received two dirty glass cups and a dirty tea bag. One server grabbed the menu from our table to give it to some other men who walked in without even checking in if we were done ordering (we weren't, and we couldn't even order because they took the menu).

The menu is listed tea for $3, but the bill came and it the green tea was $5. Mind you it was a tea bag with some hot water, nothing special. I mentioned to this to the server, and she told me, I should have asked. Madness 😅 (Next time I go to a restaurant, I'm going to ask is your menu correct...). Instead, I was told the manager was not around. So if the menu says $3, they can just charge whatever they want for a tea bag and water, and the ownness is on us to verify??? Zero...

Went there with a friend Cos we had just finished eating at Lalibella which is across and it so we decided to sample a club. The music was bussing but about an hour or so into our drinks, we’re having a good time the waitress comes to us the only non Ethiopian looking people in the restaurant and tells us that she would like to move us to a different table because there are some people that have come and prefer our table!!! Yo!! What In the 2024 discrimination is about to happen here ? Needless to say, I also wanted to sit at my pro ally warmed seat and so we declined to move but we’re so concerned about any other servings we’d get so we finished our drinks and left. Customer service was also bad since they served half the table and the other half was waiting for the girl to come back and take an order but she wasn’t back till the others had finished their first...

I want to share my experience so others don’t get scammed like we did.

Yesterday, I went to Jolly Bar on Bloor Street in Toronto with my friend. We each had one beer, and in total we had 4 shots – two for us, and we kindly gave one shot each to two of the ladies working there.

When I asked for the bill, they suddenly said $89 — which is way too high for what we ordered.

When I questioned the price, the bartender said “the machine is broken” and told me to “just tap” without giving a proper bill, receipt, or any breakdown.

The customer service was extremely rude, and there was no respect at all. We even have video evidence of exactly what we ordered.

👉 To the owners: Your staff is scamming customers and damaging your business.

👉 To the public: I do NOT recommend Jolly Bar. The service is unprofessional, and you risk being overcharged with no...

The vegetarian platter came with a lot of food and was delicious! Some of the dishes were a bit different than other places on the Bloor strip, which is a good thing. The veggie combo came on a the same sharing platter as the tibs, which was not ideal as the wet meat leaked into the veggie side. I would suggest you guys ask guests in this (veg/meat) situation if they want to share platters or two separate platters. The service was very kind and friendly, but there were a few points where it would have been better with more servers. I fully recommend this place! It's a bit of a sports bar vibe, but the food is legit and the clientele is cool and laid back.

We got the meat and veggie combo platter with extra of the injera, and it was absolutely incredible. The liver and onions one was my favorite, it's the one at the top. All of the veggies were great, they're on the left and the meat options are on the right. Would definitely recommend getting a pitcher to go with it, and splitting with a couple friends!
