**NEW EDIT** October 2024: Had the bacon breakfast sandwich on a biscuit this time. I ordered wrong the first time! It’s clear this place isn’t known for its’ sandwich on the English muffin. Get it on the Jalapeño Cheddar biscuit. The size, taste, and consistency is made to match perfectly on the biscuit. And to my surprise, it wasn’t as overwhelming as biscuits tend to be (not overly heavy and dense, not too dry). Bacon was way better this time around vs. my previous comments. Always worth giving places a second go! If you like English muffin sammys, not the place for you. But if you like biscuits - this is very good! July 2024: Mind you, breakfast sandwiches on biscuits are delicious but sometimes overwhelming, and doesn’t let the other ingredients come through. I know that biscuits are their “signature”. I opted for the English muffin to make sure I’m consistent amongst everywhere I go! So my experience was just, a bit below average for what the sandwich was. Overall it was fine, half boiled egg cup with chives was great in taste and adding the hot sauce added a nice flavour, mayo/spread was tasty too. However the bacon tasted… microwavey….which ruined it a bit for me. The egg was also tiny but tall, so I took a couple of bites without it, then other bites overwhelmed by the flavour. I would like this sandwich much more if the egg was consistent across the size of the sandwich, and the infrastructure in the location had something to crisp up some fresh bacon. Outdoor space is cute, but seats crammed awkwardly inside. Had to maneuver tightly through and touched people as I was trying to get to my seat. Maybe next time I’ll try the biscuit if I ever go back.

i very much did not expect to be BLOWN AWAY by this biscuit breakfast sandwich. first of all, the entire sandwich was super warm when i got it and it just tasted so fresh. the biscuit itself was remarkable — the outside was so crunchy (it was grilled a bit) and that gave it a peRFECTTTT baked flavour. the inside was SOOO moist and there was not a sINGLE hint of dryness, and it wasn’t overly mushy either. truly perfect. permeating throughout each bite was a slightly salty, cheesy, cheddary taste, complemented by crispy strips of bacon that was not overpowering at all, its flavour was honestly not as distinct as i expected (good for a breakfast sandwich because then it’s not so greasy). the thick egg (not scrambled) was soft, kinda bouncy, and had a very subtle/barely noticeable taste. there was also hint of fresh, earthy pesto that tied everything together. the sandwich was a bit oily, but it wasn’t too heavy tasting at all. i also would recommend getting hot sauce on it, because it gives it a perfect tangy kick. you can really tell they’ve perfected the sandwich — i prefer this sandwich over sleepy pete’s. not to mention, they’ve got an AMAZING playlist (clairo!!! beabadoobee!!) and everyone there is quite friendly.

I kind of struggled with this review, because I really would like to give it a higher ranking. The restaurant looks great after the renovations and new management, and it still has a bit of a cozy feel. I tried their blueberry scone and it was delicious, and it looks as if they have a variety of teas. Service was pretty standard. But the coffee :( I'm a big fan of good drip coffee and I find theirs to be really weak, especially for a dark roast. I feel cafés like this really need to do coffee well in order to survive. Moreover we had the scrambled eggs for breakfast but they were really just ok, kind of bland, not great. So 3 stars for now, but hoping I can change it in the future because they really do deserve better.

This place is a miss big time. I came in to order 2 of their breakfast sandwiches. I asked for their jalapeño biscuit and the woman at cash with glasses said "let me check if we have those" and then she confirmed that they have it and proceeded with payment. I was asked to wait outside or at a bench. I would wait outside but their patio is dirty. Every table had a coffee cup, tissues or a sleeve and yet it was empty. There was trash on the ground. It just looked like as if someone hadn't cleaned it in weeks. And we as customers are supposed to sit and wait here at this dirty patio? I sat at the bench inside and waited 10 minutes. Once I got home and checked my order, it was the cheese biscuit and missing the condiments that I requested. I paid $18 (items+tax+tips) for incorrect items. When I called to correct this issue, their phone number doesn't work. I went to click their official website, it takes me to an error page. How are you guys operating as a business without any professional platform to contact you? Then you guys have ubereats? How does this make any sense?

It is dirty, their indoor tables were not wiped clean after customers left, nor do they clean their patio regularly. Plus, when you confirm with them something, they'll hear you incorrectly over their loud music. This place is lacking a smooth customer service experience, clean environment and professional business contact info. I question this place. Skip it altogether.

PS. They pick and choose which reviews to respond to and keep using "We're under new management"...

I have been going to Saving Gigi's for a few years now. I have lived in the area for about 7 years. I have generally really enjoyed the food and the coffee despite the slow service and the spotty wifi connection. I have remained a pretty loyal customer and have proudly brought a few friends with me for brunch. I probably come to Gigis a few times a year.

However, a couple of months ago I brought a friend with me (who lives in another area of Toronto) and after waiting in line patiently she cheerfully chirped her order to the guy behind the counter. For some reason, her cheery disposition offended him and he dismissed her with an eye roll and asked me what I wanted to order. He flat out ignored her. I knew the place had a hint of pretension, but this behavior was just plane silly and arrogant. Just to put things into perspective, my friend, who has two small children, was going through chemotherapy treatment and this hangout at Gigis was intended to be a fun catch up between two old friends. What a sour puss this guy was. She has since become cancer free no thanks to that selfish dick behind the counter. A little kindness towards other people goes a really long way especially when a person works in the service industry. Perhaps a dishwashing position would be a better fit...
