Pastries are quite delicious no matter what you choose. I'll be honest, I've been going there for years, but never stayed there to eat. They are half an hour (more in traffic) drive from my house by the pastries are really worth it. However, staying there to eat turned out quite unpleasant. If you want to sit at the "bar" kind of seats, you get the uncomfortable metalic bar stools and full of crumbs and dishes counter. Or they have 3 bar tables with VERY unstable bar chairs. Two people before me fell off and complained, then I fell off twice. When it happened to me, the owner (or seemed to be the senior member of the team) was there, but only the poor server kept apologizing for the chairs. In addition to this hazard, they were changing the carpets in front of the counter and seating area while people were eating. Which if done carefully, is not an issue, but they did it in a way that all the dust from carpets, and what's under, went up. Then they swept the rest in the same way. If I didn't see the dust flowing right in front of me and on my table, I really wouldn't care, but with their prices, to have to throw out half of the pastry because of the carpet dust on it, is just not right! Last is no wifi... I never use wifi in coffee shop but just dropped my phone and lost all service, something with sim connection. I was sure that wifi in the coffee shop is as common and essential as napkins, guess not.... Well, I'm getting wifi and coffee in the coffee shop down the road looking for a new phone and writing a somewhat...
Read moreI have been a loyal customer of Jules Cafe for many years. On April 20th around 9:30am, I ordered an almond croissant and a Croque Monsieur ham sandwich, as I have done many times before. I requested that the sandwich be warmed up, but the staff member informed me that it would take 10 minutes to do so. I acknowledged this and said that I was willing to wait. However, the staff member used a microwave to warm up the sandwich and returned it to me in just 1 minute.
Unfortunately, the sandwich was not in good condition as the bread had become soggy and the ham had become hard and dehydrated due to the microwave's high beam energy. Consequently, I had to throw away half of the sandwich.
I have some questions that I would like the manager of the cafe to address:
Why was a microwave used to warm up the sandwich when it is known to ruin the texture of the sandwich? If the staff uses a microwave on a regular basis to warm up sandwiches, why did they tell me it would take 10 minutes when it only took 1 minute to warm up my sandwich? If you want to explain that the staff member was new, please do not. Instead, please address whether or not you train your staff on these important details. I was very disappointed with my experience and had to remove my previously five-star review of your cafe to write this one. I hope that your response to my concerns will be better than the behavior of your staff and that you will not disappoint...
