I found exactly what I was looking for with the Art Workshop's classes: excellent instruction, a flexible schedule and a warm and friendly environment. Maria tailors her teaching to the level of the student and the medium used, and is able to provide valuable instruction and guidance while letting the student paint or draw in his or her own personal style. I like that I am learning a lot about painting techniques in my own time, rather than needing to follow a strict schedule of classes (which would be difficult with my work schedule). It is also nice to be able to use my block of classes to attend both painting and drawing on different days of the week. I’ve been taking classes at Maria’s Art Workshop for 7 years. Maria herself is a well educated, creative artist who effectively shares her knowledge with learners of all ages and levels of experience. She offers instruction in a wide range of mediums from pencils to oilpaint. Those materials are included in the lesson. More experienced students are guided in their independent projects while beginners (including children, young adults and those with special needs) benefit from Maria’s attentive approach to teaching fundamentals. I really can’t explain how much confidence Art Workshop has instilled in me as a beginner. I’ve always wanted to try life drawing but was too intimidated until I started going to Art Workshop. Maria is a fantastic teacher and her tips have truly helped me improve my drawing. A year later, I can definitely see how much these sessions have equipped me with new skills.
