I had the pleasure last week to visit KIBO Secret Gardens for dinner, where I ordered the Omakase Set Course (for my girlfriend and I). We were both overly impressed with the service, quality of food and overall presentation. The set course included an abundance of fresh fish selected and prepared by the head chef for our table ... each subsequent serving did not take place until we had finished enjoying our previous plate, with the last course being dessert. Every dish that came out exceeded my expectations and I left the restaurant on a well fed and happy stomach. The head chef (very nice) came by to personally grind fresh wasabi onto our plate, while the lead server was exceptionally friendly, courteous and identified everything we were being served to eat. I am not from the Bloor Street local, but this dining experience will most certainly bring me back to the area in the future. I drive a pick-up truck and I like that there was parking easily found within short walking distance of the restaurant. As for drinks, we enjoyed both sake and a small sample of Nikka Whiskey. From a Happy Customer ~ John :)

Tldr: Try the Omakase. Cute and hippie decor. One of the chef was formerly with Japango. Still in process of getting their liquor license but that doesn't even matter because the food is incredible. The various different flavors from top to bottom will rock your taste buds! Ordered the omakase and it begins with an oyster shot which is appropriately spicy and fresh with a tint of lemon. The sushi rice is quite special as the chef made his own vinegar to go with the sashimi which they DIRECTLY IMPORT FROM THE TSUJIKI MARKET (most famous fish market in Japan) THREE TIMES A WEEK so it's fresh AF (don't you DARE put soy sauce on those). The few sashimi I rmber having were buffalo tuna, blackfish, J-mackerel, and king salmon. The chef surprised us with two new dishes, scallop on croquet and some custom cabbage wrap. Ended the meal with an amazing creme brulee. Expect to have your tastebuds challenged and belly satisfied here.

While I normally love a good sushi place, I unfortunately had to give this place 4/5 stars. I decided to sit in, and was pointed to a chair handed a menu and wasn't really served anything even a drink for 20 minutes. The waitress was very sweet, but you could tell a lot of them were distracted on other things. So uber eats or take out is probably the better option if your planning to order from here. And while you do get a lot of food, it wasn't the freshest. The rice tasted like it hadn't been washed (kind of that moldy taste) as well as the mango being hard. The tempura though... beautifully done! I'm hoping this is a one time thing really. For the higher price paid, I don't know if I'd go here again... but enjoyable for what it was.

New Subject: Concern Regarding New Cashiers at Kibo Sushi (1415 Bloor Street)

As an Uber Eats driver, I’ve always appreciated Kimbo Sushi for its efficiency and good service. However, I’ve had repeated issues with the new cashiers that need to be addressed.

Whenever I come to pick up an order, the cashiers consistently press their thumbs down on the receipt or screen when handing it to me. This feels disrespectful and unprofessional, especially when I’m simply doing my job and trying to provide prompt service to customers.

I kindly request that the management address this behavior and train the staff to handle interactions with delivery drivers more professionally. We’re all part of the same process to ensure a great customer experience, and mutual respect goes a long way.

Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I hope to see improvements moving forward.

Sincerely, Food: 1/5 | Service: 1/5 | ...
