I can see why patrons are drawn to the restaurant. It’s a cozy place that seems more at home in a suburb than amongst the Yorkville set. Their menu’s extensive and prices are very reasonable, especially given its location.

Five large prawns arrive with the shrimp tempura ($12), freshly fried so it’s wonderfully hot and crispy. While it could have benefited from being drained a bit longer and the dipping sauce less watered down, it’s a great way to get the meal started shared amongst a table.

I was astounded by the size of the hamachi kama ($9) given the bargain price point. Sadly, you get what you pay for as the generally tender fish jowl was overcooked leaving the dish too dry and a bit chewy.

Always go with a restaurant’s namesake menu item as the Kiro roll ($15) was my favourite bite that evening. The rice was pressed to a cardboard thinness, the California roll base (imitation crab, avocado, and cucumber) topped with salmon, scallop, and tobiko before having a light torching.

Try as I might, I could not get the entire bite into my mouth in one go. There was a great number of toppings and the julienned cucumbers so crispy and fresh that it brightened up the entire maki. If only the spicy mayo had some heat, this would have been perfect.

If you’re not a fan of oily aburi, you’ll love Kiro’s ebi pressed sushi ($16). The shrimp topping didn’t have an ounce of mayo instead relying on tobiko, scallions, and furikaki (a rice topper) to give it texture and flavour. Of course, that dryness doesn’t lend itself to capturing that smokiness and caramelized colour you’d expect from a torched sushi but does create a...

Today my boyfriend and I planned to visit another place, but there is "one"work schedule on the Internet, and being already there, disappointment happened, because already standing at the front door we see that they are closed on Mondays, and we really wanted sushi we decided not to be upset and choose another one and this place was five minutes away from us, force majeure is my life, and I thought that without reading a lot about this place, I was afraid that it would be tasteless and you know what?🙈 So far, this is the most delicious sushi. Everywhere I could, I tried my favorite sushi philadelphia and california, and they have them so excellent .. The ingredients are the most tender, fresh, everything melts in your mouth ❣️and the presentation is even more refined the menu is also very convenient, with a photo and a description of what is included in the sushi itself, I took specific ones, but for people who still don’t know what they would like, this is for you! My boyfriend ordered "beef udon" The only drawback was that the noodles were too dense and big for him, I would like thinner, but we didn't ask if it was possible 😅, but despite this, everything was eaten) I also want to add for rolls "Philadelphia", it was a discovery for me to see that the salmon not only lies on top, but also inside very unusual and very tasty. Until the end of the meal, my smile didn't leave me, so much so that I didn't peer at the price, because it was no longer important. Kiro Sushi once again,...

I've been to a lot of sushi places, both ayce and a la carte, and I find that this place is closer to higher-end sushi in terms of quality, but closer to lower-end in terms of price.

We went at 10 pm on a Saturday night as a party of 2. It was nice that this place is open pretty late. There was no wait, and the restaurant was fairly empty.

We ordered the sashimi deluxe dinner and some maki rolls. The rolls were pretty big, tasty, and pretty cheap ($24 for three maki rolls) and the sashimi was fantastic. We got a wide assortment of fresh cuts, including uni (typically excluded from sashimi platters unless you're at a nicer place), with great presentation and assortment.

The service could use some work though, and is often a bit slow but friendly nonetheless. This place would have gotten a five star review from me, but my partner found a scrap of aluminum foil in her dynamite roll. I don't know if this is a common occurrence or a freak anomaly, but it wasn't enough to ruin our dining experience. It was, however, enough to raise some skepticism about their food preparation practices despite everything being tasty.

We will likely come back here, but we'll be careful about investigating the...
