"I'm thrilled to have discovered El gourmet the newest addition to downtown's culinary scene! This charming Lebanese restaurant has already won me over with its warm hospitality, vibrant atmosphere, and most importantly, its incredibly delicious cuisine.
From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a smile and promptly seated. Our server, lilly, was attentive, knowledgeable, and happy to guide us through the menu.
Speaking of the menu, oh boy! The variety of traditional Lebanese dishes was impressive, and everything we ordered exceeded our expectations. The falafel was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, served with a side of creamy tahini sauce. The shawarma was tender and flavorful, wrapped in a warm pita with fresh veggies and authentic garlic sauce.
But the real showstopper was the mixed grill platter, featuring succulent lamb, beef, and chicken skewers, all perfectly seasoned and grilled to perfection. The accompanying garlic sauce and pickled turnips added an extra layer of flavor and texture.
Dessert was a must-try, and the baklava did not disappoint. Flaky phyllo, crunchy pistachios, and a drizzle of honey made for a sweet and satisfying conclusion to our meal.
In short, El Gourmet is a fantastic addition to downtown's dining scene. With its authentic Lebanese cuisine, welcoming atmosphere, and top-notch service, this restaurant is sure to become a new favorite among locals and visitors alike. Can't wait to come back and try more of the menu!

Read moreWe went here after work to take away Shawarmas. The guy behind the counter making Shawarmas was very nice and friendly and the lady owner also very nice, however, even though we were there first, it took a long time to make 7 sandwiches because they had ppl drop by picking food.
It was our first time here and thought to give it a shot since it is very close to our home, however, for 7 shawarmas, both chicken and meat, we found the meat was very little and they don’t put many things inside. Only pickles and fries and garlic souce and you have to pay if you want any tomatoes or lettuce or anything else.
We have explored many shawarma restaurants in Durham and city and was very disappointed with this one specifically for someone who buys 7 sandwiches, at least they should have put more meat !!
We won’t go here again as it is not worth our money! Also, they should stop talking to each other over the food wrapping process as they were not wearing any masks ...
Read moreEl Gourmet Express is an absolute hidden gem on Church Street! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and impeccable service. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, but what truly steals the show is the food.
I tried their shawarma and taouk sandwich, and it was hands-down the best I’ve ever had in Toronto. The meat was juicy and flavorful and the portions were generous. Every bite was a celebration of authentic Lebanese flavors.
What sets them apart is their attention to detail. The food isn’t just delicious; it’s made with love and care. You can taste the passion they have for creating an unforgettable dining experience. And to top it off, everything is incredibly affordable!
Whether you’re dining in, grabbing takeout, or ordering delivery, El Gourmet Express never disappoints. I’ll be recommending this spot to everyone I know. Thank you for serving such amazing food—I’ll definitely...
