Conveniently nestled in Yorkdale mall, Konjiki Ramen is the spot to go for anyone looking to fuel up on some flavourful ramen during their shopping trip.

The appetizers here were only ok. However, the Avocado Vegetarian Ramen, which may be unique to Konjiki, stood out for me as the broth creamy but light, with a satisfying umami depth. The noodles are perfectly cooked, with just the right amount of chew. The toppings included arugula, porcini mushroom, tomato, tofu nugget, roasted corn, and roasted pumpkin.

The ambiance is casual yet inviting, and the service is typically efficient and friendly. Another plus is that there isn't usually along wait to get seated the times I've been here.

Update December 2024: Konjiki Ramen at Yorkdale had been a reliable stop during my shopping trips, but unfortunately, my most recent visit was a letdown. As always, there’s usually a brief wait depending on the time, and once seated, you're expected to scan a QR code to view the menu.

This time, my friend and I ordered the Avocado Vegetarian Ramen, Tori Paitan Ramen (Yorkdale exclusive), Yuzu Soda, and a Sangaria White & Yellow Peach Juice. To my surprise, the Avocado Ramen was far from the creamy, rich broth I’ve come to expect. Instead, the broth had a thick, curdy texture that resembled more of leftover pasta sauce than broth. The Tori Paitan Ramen was somewhat better, but it was too salty for my liking. The Yuzu Soda was another disappointment, tasting like unfiltered tap water with carbonation added, lacking the refreshing citrus yuzu flavours.

While the food was a major letdown, the service did redeem the experience somewhat. Our server was friendly and attentive, offering to show us the drink options by bringing over samples of the different cup sizes and bottled drinks available when we inquired. Her warmth and willingness to assist without were greatly appreciated.

Sadly, due to the quality of the food this time around, I can’t give a higher rating. Hopefully, this was just an off day, but given the experience, I’ll be reconsidering...

Went to Konjiki Ramen for lunch while doing some shopping at Yorkdale. The menu looked appetizing & my wife and I wanted to try it.

The decor and atmosphere of the restaurant was relaxing and quiet as we were greeted by a friendly server who seated us immediately. My wife and I decided to order drinks from their non-alcoholic menu, which provided a great selection of beverages which were bright and refreshing.

We had ordered the tofu nuggets and vegetable spring rolls, both arriving to our table shortly after placing our order. The tofu nuggets were tasty and had the texture of potato croquettes and contained edamame and carrots. The dipping sauce went well with them. The spring rolls were also tasty.

My wife decided to order the Miso ramen noodles with pork chashu and I ordered the pork katsu rice bowl. I really enjoyed the rice bowl as it came with a sweet soy sauce and the pork katsu was cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside and juicy within. My only negative comment about the dish was that there could have been a bit more seasoning to the katsu and the soy sauce. I ended up asking for some chili oil, which gave the dish a bit more kick.

As for the ramen soup, my wife enjoyed the majority of the dish, with the exception of the pork, which had the taste and texture of sliced deli meat. It was unusual to see that in a ramen bowl and somewhat unappealing. As for the rest of the noodles and broth, my wife did enjoy flavours of the broth, tasting the shrimp used to infuse it. And she enjoyed the addition of the pickled radish strips, which was unique.

Overall, the entire dining experience was exceptional. The restaurant is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the mall, providing sanctuary for a nice meal with other people. The service was friendly, prompt and accommodating and the food was tasty. I would definitely come back to Konjiki Ramen again and would recommend...

This is my second time to Konjiki. First time in Richmond Hill and second time here inside the Yorkdale location. First of all, I appreciate the wide open space and ample seating for many ramen lovers out there that don't have to queue up outside in the cold of a 10-20 seater ramen shop. Konjiki has tons of space and we did not have to wait longer than 5 minutes both times.

The restaurant didn't have the Japanese spirit or culture like most ramen shops I've dined in around the world including this city. The decor and and ambience was simplistic and modern, lack of that Japanese touch.

The dining room was full of energy as it was a very busy Saturday afternoon at the mall and very family oriented. The servers and staff were super busy but did really well getting everyone serviced. Though our server had forgotten our water but it wasn't a big deal. Our orders were placed within 2 minutes of seating and food arrived all at once and promptly. The ramen soups were very nice and creamy, perfect for the lower temperatures today. I had ordered the Avocado Vegetarian Ramen for the second time now as there is only one ramen option for vegan/vegetarians, as well as one option for appetizers for vegans which was the tofu nuggets. I knew the menu beforehand so I knew I only had two options and didn't mind it. The soup was a nicer consistency than the one I had in Richmond Hill. However the tofu nuggets were a little over cooked this time. My boyfriend and niece also enjoyed their ramen, but the little one barely touched her Chestnut cake.

The price is higher than the Richmond Hill location and pricier than most ramen shops I've been to.

Overall, I feel there should be more consistency on their food quality and I'd only return if I had to and...

Konjiki brings much needed variation to the ramen scene in Toronto. A tiny, unassuming shop tucked away in a small Tokyo alley has boldly branched out to Toronto, delighting us with its clam based broth. Admittedly, my palate leans toward thick, creamy tonkotsu broth. But let’s be real. Every now and then, you need to wander off the beaten path. Konjiki is that path. No four legged beasts are invited to make their clam shoyu broth, not even the two legged avians we know as chicken. Just clams. Not a seafood lover? Allergic to clams? That’s okay. It still might be worth trying your luck (just bring your epipen LOL). The wonderful clam taste is present up front but washes away quickly as it goes down. The clam flavor is subtle and well balanced. That said, it’s a double edged sword for someone like me. After a few sips, the clam takes a back seat as the shoyu begins to dominate. The delicate flavor you first fell in love with becomes harder and harder to find again. I think a palate cleanser is needed to reset the tongue so you can continue enjoying that amazing clam flavor throughout the bowl. It comes with green onion, but for some reason, it wasn’t quite doing the trick. Also, I have a strong preference for a slightly runny egg in my ramen. I know it’s not mandatory, but honestly, it should be. Someone should pass a bill. Ajitsuke tamago forever! Other than that, it’s an amazing bowl of ramen. A must for any ramen lover!
