For so long I’ve wanted to have Sushi zipped to my table and after searching for a place I found Tora and it certainly gives you that experience.
The service on my visit was amazing and there is no complaints there. Servers are nice, respectful, and attentive. Wait time for the sushi to come out was fairly quick while some dishes took a bit longer but not too long to complain.
The food was mostly good but some dishes are leagues better than others. The Classic Oshi set was great with the Ebi oshi being the star of the three in my opinion. The Aburi Onagi sushi was by far the star of the night for me with its amazing flavour. The Aburi Red prawn was good, but nothing fantastic. By far the worst for me was the Aburi Squid that I found to not have much flavour and left much to be desired with the texture. The Ebi Fritters were amazing and had a perfect crunch to them with a well cooked shrimp inside. The Aburi California Rolls were the best of all the rolls we tried by far, the rice is seemingly already infused with some soy sauce which does add to the flavour but seems to weaken the rice making the rolls fall apart easily sometimes. The Tora roll and spicy prawn rolls were also tasty and seemed fresh. The Virgin Lychee sangria and Virgin white grape pomegranate cocktails were very tasty with the Lychee beating out the pomegranate for me. They had a perfect mix of sweet and fruity taste profiles and I’d absolutely recommend giving them a try.
Despite the good experience and the generally tasty food, I found myself slightly disappointed with the lacklustre selection of Sushi Rolls. I assume the Aburi is their main focus on the menu but I would’ve hoped for some more options. I also do not think this is the best sushi out there, while tasty, I certainly would not come back for anything else but the conveyor style experience compared to several other sushi places I regularly visit. While the experience is good, I don’t think it would even crack my Top 5 list of sushi restaurants based on taste alone.
If you’re looking for an experience you will certainly get that here but in terms of taste and variety of sushi you may find yourself...
Read moreI’m sorry but I’m giving this one star review with tears. This used to be my favourite restaurant, my husband and I came almost every week since 2019, and we had a lot of important dates celebrated here. We didn’t come last year as we had our second baby. We were here again this year for Mother’s Day. We arrived when they just opened , so they were not busy at all. After we sit, I realize my boys (3yrs old ) booster seat is not safe for him . We asked for help but nobody came , so my husband went to grab another high chair for him. However when we order, all of sudden my boy was screaming, the highchair has some safety issues, the tray flipped over and hit on his front teeth. The teeth starts bleeding like crazy and he was crying, I couldn’t see what’s going on inside of his mouth as it was blood all over. I asked for help again, the waiter came and I said I need some ice cream please to stop the bleeding. I asked for ice cream again in another five minutes but there were so many waitresses passed by here and three , busy with their customers but nobody care abt my kid who was injured at their restaurant by their highchair!!!!!! I gave my kid some water and finally the blood almost stopped, I cried and ask loudly again for the ice cream. It was abt 10 minutes already since it happened, and I asked for three times for the ice cream . Another 2 minute’s later I guess after I cried, the ice cream is here. really? Is this how you treat your customer ? You should make sure you high hair doesn’t have safety issues, and you should at least show us you care when my kids mouth is full of blood! They were busy greeting with other customers, fill waters but no one can pass us an ice cream to fix my kids bleeding teeth. I took him to the dentist after But I can’t even write this down until one month later, as I feel so sad even when I'm writing it right now . Definitely not...
Read moreGreat experience here. The entrance is a bit hidden but you should definitely give it a try. The doors are right next to the exit near sportslife. You’ll have to enter then take the elevator upstairs. Second floor has these big windows, the environment was relaxing and fancy. They space you out so theres always a booth between different parties. Service was great, staff were passionate and approachable, shoutout to William?!? for explaining how does the resto work. Food is ordered thru the ipad and delivered thru those tracks( dk how to describe it, shown in the pics next to ipad) to avoid human contact. Drink menu can be accessed by scanning the QR code. Food quality was exceptional, especially for the price. One thing I would’ve wanted was for the rice to be more dense. My friend and I had a few sushi falling apart while picking it up. The scollops I had were soo sweet and everything was fresh. Flavour wise, it was the perfect balance for the aburi, considering when sauces are involved. Condiments were packaged( tho I prefer fresh wasabi packaged, I have no complains for covid measurements) Would 10/10 recommend to fam and friends!
update 2022 Oct 28th —- 4 stars Unfortunately I have noticed an increase in price and decline in food quality. It is still decent but everytime I come in here the prices were increased….. for example, the portion for uni and salmon roe in the dons and nigiri is less now, and the udon looked like 1/5 of a normal sized udon. Udon is basically starch like rice and grains…. Yet they are reducing the sizes….I get inflation, and that its supposed to be light eats…. when the price keeps going up but the quality declines…. You might want to get sushi from other places that charges less, but are able to sustain the food portion...
