I had gone a few weeks ago and they had a BOGO offer at that time, I bought 4 drinks. At first I had asked a few questions about the different flavours and the cashier had a bit of an attitude and ushered me towards their digital menu - it was being used by another customer. So I again asked the question and didn’t react to the attitude that had been shown, after I ordered I noticed that the cashier became a lot nicer and dropped the attitude. I complimented the fast service and took my drinks to go. 4 drinks took about 5 minutes, it was super speedy and the cashier chuckled saying that he was used to making the teas. My interactions ended on a pleasant note! Atmosphere 7/10 - you can definitely turn off a lot of customers with the hostile tones and gosh it felt awkward attempting to ask anything. Service 9/10 - yes it was as fast as lightening but, service also means a good attitude in my eyes. Decor 8/10 - the parts that are decorated look really minimal and clean but I did notice a sort of “storage facility” vibe going on with moving boxes in the corner and it definitely needs more seating (however, it’s a really small shop, so I can imagine this being very difficult). The drinks though - 10/10! Overall, not bad, I’d go again!

I had high hopes for Kung Fu Tea. Another tea place opened up in my area and it was time to go check it out. They had the BOGO promotion o and me and my friend decided to order the Mango Green Tea. As advertised on their promotional picture, there are big mango chunks in the poster and I expected it to be there. The retail price of that is $5+tax. The cashier took our order. Everything went down from there. He didn't even ask how much sugar and ice. When the drink came and I realized it, I asked them to redo it with less ice and less sugar and they refused. Seriously? Some people can die from diabetes. The next part is the scam part on them. When I got the drink, I noticed that there was no mango chunks in there! I asked the cashier where is the mango??? and his explanation was "the picture is just for advertising". why even sell this drink if you are going to lie to your customers? There is no mango chunks. There were a few strands of mango in my drink and that was about it! It is unbelievable that at this stage of the game, they are willing to scam their customers to save a few dollars on ingredient cost. I will not go there again ever!

Visited on a weekday afternoon The Good: - Minimal lineup/wait time - Diverse selection of drinks (milk tea, fruit tea, specialty beverages, etc.) - "All of our tapioca is brown sugar tapioca" - specialty tapioca? - Various topping choices - Bathroom is clean and equipped with sufficient toiletries - Introduced several new drinks with the uptown expansion - Interior is furnished quite nicely, and there is a good amount of seating for a grab&go spot - Password-secured Wi-Fi network The Bad - Staff aren't very good at communicating menu features - Grand Opening specials have concluded, but posters are outdated - Bathroom is located at the bottom of a steep staircase (not accessible), as with all nearby establishments; lock doesn't work particularly well. - Tough to find parking (street) - Yakult Green Tea w/ Aloe was mediocre at best - Prices are steep, but the chosen drink was not memorable whatsoever The Neutral - Uses honey instead of simple syrup: good if you like the flavour of honey, bad if it interferes with the original brew of tea - Accepts credit and cash

For context, I have in total at minimum 60 transactions at Kung Fu Tea in locations across downtown Toronto. At least 1/3 of those orders are the large pearl milk tea, with 30% sugar and no ice. I am very familiar with how this order should taste like.

I came to this location for the first time on August 8th and the payment was processed at 8:15PM. The cashier, who was an Asian male, had outstanding customer service. We had a cordial chat with the gentleman - details of various drinks, payment methods, the artwork on the wall, the cute fortune cat, and so on. In terms of customer service, he went above and beyond. The best service, hands down, of all Toronto locations of Kung Fu Tea.

The problem we had was with a blonde woman who made the drinks. We get it. It's after 8PM. It's been a long day. While the drink was made, it was like she was bored out of her mind and she could not care less about the drink that was being made. It was about the body language. And it wasn't positive. But you know what, we get that. Who would be super motivated to make a drink in the evening on a Sunday? And as a disclaimer - the race descriptors are to solely identify the staff. My other guest was also blonde. Nothing about race is being insinuated here.

But the problem was that the drinks themselves. Despite being made by someone who was seemingly completely unmotivated and could care less, from the first taste of the drink, it was very off. As a disclaimer, the taste has been ALWAYS been very consistent across all locations for all orders. The 2 teas tasted very watered down. Then we noticed after we left (since you can't taste in store else you'd have to take your mask off) that the tea had ice (which we specified no ice). The problem is, 1) the ice would have not had the time to melt and thus diluting the tea, so the tea was made erroneously and 2) even when you ask for no ice, we noticed that the bubble tea maker would always top off the gap in the cup with water. We're fine if staff dilutes the tea a bit to top it off, as the final product didn't taste like a watered down mess. But man, this had to be one of the worst bubble teas I've had in Toronto. Extremely watery and tasteless. Extremely disappointing.

We had family waiting for us outside, so we didn't want to make to make them wait any further so we didn't want to go back and raise a stink about it since it's already so late in the evening. But this experience did not leave a positive impression of the process and we are not looking to return to...

Awful customer service. Wouldn't hurt to smile.

2nd time I've gone this week and will be the last. Gave them 2 chances and the service only gets worse.

This time the cashier guy barely spoke english and completely messed my simple order that I even pointed out on their menu of a chocolate milk tea with pearls/tapioca.

Got a receipt that said ginger milk tea and had to point it out to him to correct. Then when I got it, no tapioca.

Pointed that out and he said I didnt ask for it when my 2 other friends even heard me as I always get tapioca.

Then had the nerve to get frustrated with me and say fine $1.00 more and I asked how?

They said for tapioca and new cup fee cause they had sealed it.

That's a joke! NEW CUP FEE???

If you don't speak english well enough to take an order, then don't be at the cashier and dealing with customers. Also, when you make a mistake just own up to it rather then getting frustrated and talking in mandarin and then being short with your customers and trying to make them pay for your mistake.

Then so called manager then comes said fine we won't charge for cup.

Wow... so gracious of you. I should be so thankful.

Principles people! Never coming back..

Ohh and then when he said ok just tapioca is 70cent he still put in $1.00 on the debit machine cause of service fee.... so...

I ordered 3 pearl milk teas, tried to pay by card but the machine was malfunctioning, counter girl blames my card, I showed her that the machine was at fault then I told her Id pay in cash. She calls another counter girl and I had to explain the whole situation again. I tried to pay in cash but the counter girls had no idea how to open the cash register. Took 15minutes to get my change. I finally get my order only to realize they had completely messed up my order just as i got in my uber. I give them a call and told them how they gave me the wrong order, only to get blamed saying that I had told them that I ordered milk tea, so they gave me milk tea and not pearl milk tea. But they gave me "milk king". So they had messed up regardless. If I had gotten milk tea, I wouldnt even have called. They then realized that they messed up and offers me one free drink, i told em i didnt even want these 3 and i would return them, but the best they can do is offer one free drink not replace them. Why work the counter if you barely speak English and mess up peoples order and blame them for it. Yes, ive checked your reviews, its not the first time this has happened. Keep your one free drink, youll probably mess up again. Lost 3 customers for life. Terrible terrible workers...
