A small cafe, with a bright and casual atmosphere. They seem to have merch that you can buy to support their cause. You can also donate too. The music is kind of too loud. This cafe is different as it hires individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
I ordered the Ice-E Matcha Latte ($5.75, Large, Regular Milk, Regular Ice) and a Ginger Molasses Cookie ($3.00).
The Matcha Latte tastes better over time. Regular ice is way too much ice considering the cup size (never came her before so didn't know). The ginger molasses cookie is a bit too sweet for me, but otherwise tastes good.
The employees who work here are nice and kind. They work their hardest and try their best. One of them made a mistake, but went to correct their mistake. The manager treated them with kindness, and helped with correcting the mistake in the order.
It's interesting to hear how this cafe came to be, who the cafe is named after (the daughter of the owner, Lil Ella), and how their program hires individuals who have intellectual or developmental disabilities to work there to gain experience and connect them to long term meaningful employment afterwards.
Overall a good cafe to support. Food and drinks are good. Their cause is good too. If I didn't live so faraway, I would come...
Read moreYou have to visit this new coffee shop that is located at 2 St Clair Avenue West with its entrance on Yonge Street. Everything about it is just right, bright and cheery atmosphere with indoor seating and a couple of chairs with a table outside facing Yonge Street. The staff are friendly and super speedy with my two matcha lattes ready quickly and tasting terrific, neither too hot or cold. You can also order them iced. Not sure what a Dirty Chai Latte is but I'll try one next time if I've identified it correctly off the menu board. Their whole team of workers try their very best, that's evident by their welcoming eagerness the moment you arrive and you know they're taking genuine pride in a fast paced job. I also ordered the last butter tart and it was one of the best I've tasted. Lots of other baked goods, sandwiches, snacks, drinks and accessory items available too. Having a sister with certain challenges meant she wasn't able to experience a work environment just anywhere, but L'il e Coffee Cafe is living proof that everyone can do the job given a chance. Read moreI just happened to walk by LIL E Cafe after an appointment nearby and walked in, so glad I did! What an incredible cafe! The coffee 10/10 I got the Sweet Latte which was highly recommended by the staff and they were not wrong, it was so good! Best Latte I've ever hard. It's an incredible space that is inclusive and you walk in and out just feeling incredible! I highly recommend this shop 100/100!!. I even made sure to buy a tote bag so I get the chance to talk about this great Cafe everywhere I go. You don't get this quality of service anywhere else.
Also, please be kind and patient, this isn't your fast cafe that gets you a coffee in 5 seconds, they take their time to perfect their cup and almost all of the staff have intellectual or developmental disabilities which only makes this place that much better! I wish there was more LIL E Cafes in the city then there are Starbucks so I can go every single day!
Thank you LIL E Cafe and all of your...
