I can't believe it took so long to discover the David Balfour Park trail and Yellow Creek. This hike follows several trail connections and we decided to follow it south, down to the Mud Creek trail - aka the Brickworks - so that we could turn back up and create a loop. For a truly inner city hike, I give this a score of 4.5. The trail is mostly packed ground and well maintained but our route did have a couple of exciting crossings of Mount Pleasant Ave. that require attention and care. Easy to get your steps in, a few mostly gentle inclines and great tree canopies that keep you shaded for most of the hike. And how many hikes end with a reflection on life as our loop took us through the cemetery to finish off the day. Just shy of 10 k but you can easily do more.

We loved the last set of stairs that end it...

This review is for the Trail that runs behind the Park, going south. It's all nature and tranquility. Hard to believe such a place exists right in the busy hub of Midtown Toronto. Amazing place for a hike, jog or even for the bike, but keep in mind it's going to be a very rough terrine for the bike and lots of uphill, stairs etc to go through. Still could be a fun activity. Depending on the time you may find lots of other hikers and dog walkers. I'll avoid it at night fall as it's quite deep and gets really dark. The trail runs a few km but you'll see some exit stairs (or a path) after...

There Is a difference between feeling like you were one in nature in the middle of the City and being in the poorly maintained park . unfortunately this one is the latter. Many trails are destroyed or under maintenance without actually being fixed. It has a lot of potential potential , but it needs a lot of work. It could be a wonderful escape from the city. Also even though it’s the only area all the dogs I’ve met...

Maybe I've just been spoiled by all of the other really well-maintained ravine parks in Toronto, but this one is in rough shape. The trails are all mud and ice. There's debris in the creek, broken fencing, crooked stairs, and fallen trees blocking paths. Still, it's a Toronto ravine, which means it's enjoyable to walk through it despite all of the above. But the place could use some attention. Likely is better in summer.
