I came here with just one other person, we shared the breaded calamari, fish & chips, and a pasta dish. The calamari was delicious, fried perfectly, and served with a sweet chili sauce and grilled lemon. Although I doubt it was truly 1/2 a lb unless you count the plate itself. It mostly consisted of the rings and not the tentacles, which dampened the experience slightly for me. The fish & chips are intended to be Steam Whistle battered but I couldn't strongly detect the flavour, it tasted like any other well-fried battered fish. The fish is served in one plank as opposed to smaller individual portions, which I appreciate. It comes with a sweet gherkin sauce instead of tartar sauce, it was a wonderful accompaniment. It also featured a buttermilk coleslaw, which was good. The same grilled lemon that came with the calamari made an appearance here, too. Lastly, the chips left something to be desired, shoestring variety and limp. They also didn't have malt vinegar according to our waitress, only white or balsamic. Our pasta dish consisted of freshly prepared penne in a roseé sauce with "grilled" chicken, brocolli, roasted peppers, and goat cheese. Now, if I had to bet, I would never in a million years guess that this pasta was freshly prepared. Normally when a restaurant makes that claim, I have the reasonable assumption that it's going to be... well, fresh. I have serious doubt that this was, it wasn't al dente either. Also, the grilled chicken wasn't truly grilled, it tasted similar to chicken you'd find in a TV dinner. That being said, the vegetables were crisp and fresh. The sauce was absolutely incredible, and the goat cheese really stole the show. In terms of drinks, I had a glass of white wine (pinot grigio), and a pint of Stella. They were both good, but nothing to really write home about here. My dining partner has also had the wings, "nachitos", flatbread, and a few other things while here for corporate get-togethers in the past. He had nothing but good things to say for the most part. But I can't really comment on those. In conclusion, would I dine here again? Yes. But probably only because it's in close proximity to where my significant other works. Would I go out of my way to eat at this specific location otherwise? Absolutely not. But it's definitely one of the better options in that area that open later into the evening/night and don't only cater to the breakfast or lunch crowd. Also, the service is friendly, and attentive, definitely left a good taste in my mouth.

My partner and I had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant for the first time, and overall, it was a pleasant experience with a few highlights and some room for improvement. The restaurant boasted a delightful atmosphere, creating a cozy and inviting ambiance for a relaxed evening. The service was commendable - the servers were exceptionally friendly and attentive throughout our meal, adding a positive touch to the overall dining experience. We decided to try their popular chicken tenders and fish and chips. While the chicken tenders seemed to be a crowd-favorite, we were slightly disappointed by the dryness of the chicken. Though they provided some sauce on the side, the tenders' inherent dryness made it a bit difficult to enjoy fully. However, on the flip side, the fish and chips truly stood out. The portion size was more than generous, offering two servings of deliciously crispy fried fish. The fish itself was cooked to perfection - crunchy on the outside, while the flesh remained tender and flavorful on the inside. The accompanying portion of chips was excellent, adding a delightful touch to the overall dish. One noteworthy aspect of this restaurant is their enticing happy hour deal, available from 3 pm to 5 pm and 8 pm until closing time. Regrettably, we visited during dinner hours, and consequently, we missed out on these attractive deals. Nevertheless, the ample portion sizes of the meals made up for it, leaving us feeling satisfied and content with the value we received. All in all, the dining experience was positive, with the standout being the delectable fish and chips. Although the chicken tenders were a bit disappointing, the restaurant's overall performance and inviting ambiance left a good impression.

BAD MANNERS! Let me start by saying I have lived in this neighbourhood for around 7 years and visited this location quite a few times for food and drinks. I’ve tried almost all of the menu items and the burgers seem to be the best tasting item. I don’t leave reviews often but I do feel that I have to share yesterday’s experience. My friend and I were waiting for a patio table around 2:30pm on June 13, 2021. Since it was raining, I asked a Spanish-looking waitress if she could put an extra table by the window behind another set of customers and seat us there. She said, “No we can’t” so I left it that. Just a few minutes later she does exactly what I asked her to do but instead seats another set of customers that had been sitting at a different table. As we had been waiting in the rain for almost 30 minutes by now, I asked her why she moved an already seated set of customers instead of seating us. She ignored my question and just said, “I’ll grab a menu for you”. I am appalled that there was no apology or explanation. I do not expect any special treatment, but I do expect a basic level of courtesy. Needless to say, we left without sitting!

Hi Everyone I went for walking for Good Friday with my friends Gail and Carolyne. They are very nice and kind friends. Bk is a very nice and kind friend I met outside of Restaurant. He is a chef at Union Social Eatery. He recommends me to come to his restaurant. I and Gail and Carolyne went to several churches on Good Friday and we were very tired. We like his restaurant and we appreciate for his recommendation. The restaurant has good vibe and the person who brings food for us is very nice and kind lady. I like the seats and decoration. The food I ate was very delicious and my friends liked it but I ate most of it myself. I ate vegetarian food and it was very very delicious. My friend Gail ate chicken and fries. She said that she likes more salt I guess. I did not understand completely because we were tired and It is a restaurant with kind chef and kind stuff. Bk came and welcome us and he is a wonderful person and I guess he was tired too because When I met him first he was more happy. I wish he always be happy. I wish for BK to have a Good Life, Good Health and Wealth and Everything he likes. We really enjoy our lunch. I noticed a kind and nice person sitting in front of TV and he was enjoying his time talking and watching TV. I think people are important to choose a favourite restaurant. Now I am thinking that I don’t remember if he is eating or drinking. I learned a good lesson from good people that it would be a good idea to pay money for every time we eat to the cashier in the restaurant. I was a customer of Felafel of Amo Hamid and the manager of restaurant did a wonderful idea. He hangs a lot of paid receipts on a board and people who like to eat in the restaurant and they do not have enough money, they took one of the receipts and they don’t need to ask for food or enjoying time in the restaurant. At that time, I was thinking it’s a wonderful idea and I wanted to pay for one of the recipes too but when I saw that there are a lot of paid receipts on the board. I did mistake and I should have pay for one of these receipts at that time. It was better what if the receipts finished. I did not have understanding that people might have this issue. My mother told me that we should help people we know first. But one time I had a very bad headache because I did not have coffee. I didn’t want my friends see me in this situation that I am not feeling well and make them sad. I just asked the cashier in Tim Horton and he was very nice and kind person. At first he couldn’t understand my situation well or he might think that he should save money for people he knows and people who ask money regularly from him. But when he did not give me a coffee. I become sad and I sat beside the window in Tim Horton and just playing with my phone and I was thinking that I should find a solution to have a coffee. But when he saw me sad , he couldn’t see that and he gave me a coffee with a smile and he is a great person and I wish him to always be Happy, Lovely Life and Good Health and Wealth. Thanks Best Wishes Najmeh...

We went for Summerlicious dinner: Tomato and Mango Sushi Stack: alright Nashville Chicken Sliders: good, though no spicyness noted Blueberry Jalapeño Ribs: blueberry flavour was strange but not bad. The ribs were okay but could've been more tender. Absolutely no hint of jalapeño tasted. Fries were delicious and portion generous. Coleslaw was coleslaw. Banana Coconut Crusted Chicken: weird and bad. The flavours clashed and were confusing. The chicken was tasteless and had no crispness underneath the sauce. The sauce tasted like rotten banana or rotten sweet fruit to me. Friend said the sauce made his chicken taste like lettuce. Apple Pie Jar: good. Lacked the jar. No explanation for this Blueberry Cheesecake: good. Not too sweet.

Service was good throughout our meal and then drastically fell off. After about 10 minutes we tried to hail our server down to pay the bill. We were ignored. We tried to hail any server in the restaurant by waving at them. We were a group of 4. No server made eye contact with us or looked in our direction. It took over 30 min for our server to FINALLY notice us. It doesn't take that long to eat a little dessert! We watched him take payments from a large group of 8-10 men who had finished after us and walk back to to bar still without looking our way and somehow our waving and eye gaze wasn't catching their peripheral vision. We refrained from yelling, but wanted to. It was 45 min after we finished eating that we actually left the restaurant.

EDIT: My party and I were encouraged to return by the owner. We ate from the regular brunch and main menus Me Calamari app: crispy and meaty, not fried greasy. Tied for best calamari we've had in the GTA since being spoiled by Vancouver seafood. Could have used additional seasoning to be absolute #1. Steak and Eggs main: Refreshing watermelon. Great potatoes and eggs. The steak was cooked perfectly and delicious. The steak came out barely warm while the smashed potatoes were piping hot, but I soon forgot about it because the steak tasted so good. Salsa complemented it well. Watermelon should be across from the steak rather than beside so as not to soak in the steak juices. Social Nutz drink: yummy! Other Persons Edamame app: good. Fish and Chips main: perfect. Good portion size. Not fried greasy. Tea: good Bang bang chicken app: good. Blackened salmon main: enjoyed it. Really liked the candied yams with pomegranate seeds. Mocktail: good Garlic Shrimp tacos app: enjoyed it. U.F.O. Burger with poutine main: good

Key Lime Pie Jar. It was actually served in a jar. It was just right. We all got this dessert!

Overall, our meals were fantastic. Our server was fantastic. She attended to our table well, not coming too often but checking in appropriately. Super friendly. It was about just as busy as the first time we visited, 33-40% full, but big difference!

Thank you, George! If nothing else, I'd return...

NOT RECOMMENDED - DO NOT SPEND YOUR HARD EARNED CASH HERE - THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER IN A BAR - WILL NEVER RETURN - SERVER TEUREL L. NEEDS TO BE DISMISSED

Management/Owner needs to be aware that TEUREL L. One of your servers here absolutely ruined our evening. He belittled and insulted us while we were ordering drinks, and intentionally spilled a little bit of a drink on our table to make a statement.

We were going to order food however after one of us (group of 5, all mid 30s, locals, professionals) ordered ‘hot water / room temperature water for personal reasons, TEUREL L. absolutely lost his composure (unknown why) and underwent a temper tantrum. We were shocked, appalled and lost our appetite meaning your business lost big $$$

TEUREL L. angrily stated to us that “this isn’t Laval Nightclub” referring to a posh downtown rooftop patio. He stated that “this is insane”, “this is honestly insane and I’m not joking”, in a rude and condescending manner, regarding how someone would dare order room temperature water.

His comments were hurtful and shocked us as a whole group. We all lost our appetite and agreed to refuse to order anything else. We were concerned that TEUREL L. would possibly spit in our food or drink order because his anger was quite visible.

He stated that next time we come to Union Social we “should ask where his section is/where he is serving so we would seated outside his area, to avoid confrontation”. We were dumbfounded. As a group of mixed professionals, including lawyers, bankers, we all had no idea what transpired, how TEUREL L. became soo triggered and enraged over an order for room temperature water and why was he so confrontational over it

After placing the order for our first drinks and after this unpleasant exchange we all lost our appetite and the damage was done.

The kicker was when TEUREL L. came back, a Negroni drink was poorly made, half full, mostly ice- and he purposefully spilled a bit of of one drink on the table, blatantly at the same person that ordered the room temp water. This was no coincidence. It was absolutely horrid behavior for a server.

We complained the same day to all of your other staff. They removed TEUREL L. from our table at our request. He angrily came with all of our bills, even though we weren’t leaving. We all settled (no tip left after this nightmare) and another server took over our table.

Your staff will be aware of this incident and rest assured they acknowledged that we did nothing wrong to deserve this sort of treatment. This entire exchange was when we first sat down, placing our initial order.

One of your staff members was aware of TEUREL’S tyrannical behavior and stated “he’s not usually like this” implying that at least on this night he has mistreated other customers.

I would give zero stars if I could.

0/5 AVOID

Management, for the sake of your business you should dismiss TEUREL...
