Ive been to this restaurant a couple of times in pre-pandemic days and really enjoyed my meals at Mad Mexican before. I also remember them being quite busy. I tried to reserve a table for two for Sunday 7:30pm . I began calling at 6pm and three times my calls went unanswered. My friend and I decided to go anyway and the place was EMPTY. I arrived first and even though multiple staff were on floor no one really acknowledged me for good minute as I stood at the front waiting to be seated. I was even asked if I had a reservation…. Again, the place did not even have a single patron when I got there at 735pm. Once seated I asked to be moved twice due to finding different areas of the restaurant very cold (side note, in a corner nook near the kitchen there was a table that hadn’t been cleaned after someone had left clearly before I even got there because there was no one when I arrived so not sure how long they didn’t clear the table, I didn’t bother to check during my stay to see if it was cleaned after that point but odd considering they were not busy and they had multiple staff on floor). Our server was friendly but seemed unsure/inexperienced as he wasn’t able to answer most of our questions about the menu. Food arrived and everything was mediocre at best (definitely not how I remembered my previous visits). Very disappointing. Portions are big but still pricy considering the taste. The restaurant was extremely cold and not cozy. One of their doors (right one facing the resto from outside) couldn’t close all the way so when people came in to pick up food the door wouldn’t shut afterwards. They should put a sign so it’s not used as they have another door just next to it that’s fine.

Guac was excellent but the accompanying chips were WAY TOO SALTY and tiny tiny pieces it almost felt like they emptied an old bag of chips (think leftover little chips with lots of salt crumbs)

Fish tacos lacked flavour big time…, it was quite watery from the trimmings and even though there was some creamy sauce there was zero flavour (at most I tasted raw cabbage and cilantro) and the dish wasn’t crispy.

Braised pork dish was ok… the texture of the corn tortilla bothered me, this is a preference thing. The shell was hard and chewy in parts, I would have enjoyed this more if it was made with flour tortillas.

Churros came out nice and warm but as soon as you pick them up they crumbled and broke apart. They were also very greasy (you can tell from just looking at them) and when you bite into them you can taste and feel the oil in your mouth. Not how I want to finish off my meal.

I’m afraid I won’t be recommending or returning to this resto after my...

If you love authentic delicious food from Mexico then you will love this place. The food is fresh and every dish tastes great. We visit here every Friday and sit at the bar. The staff are all amazing, friendly and a lot of fun. If you haven't been here before you may have questions regarding the menu choices but don't worry because the staff are also very knowledgeable and know their menu well. Our favorite dishes are the NY steak tacos, the Ensenada tacos (which have 2 options..lightly breaded fish or shrimp dressed in a fresh slaw) and the Ensalada de Vegetables which is a nicely portioned salad made with grilled zucchini strips the wrap around a bed of fresh peppery arugula and under that is a variety of grilled eggplant, tomatoes, specially prepared quinoa and goat cheese crumbles. It's visually enticing and tastes great too! We can't describe how fantastic their artisan chips (which they make in house btw) are. You can order their chips and fresh salsa's(made in house fresh as well) as a great appetiser. Nachos are the best here. I guarantee you haven't had nachos like these. Their guacamole is made daily and is incredible. I could go on and on. Lastly their artisan cocktails are just so tasty. Try their Mad Magarita that has a great spin to it. You will not be diasapointed with Mad Mexican. It just may turn out to be your favourite spot aswell...

If I could give this place no stars, that would be more accurate. What a horrible experience. We decided to give this place a try and go in on a Sunday at 2:30pm - miss the lunch and dinner rush. The restaurant had maybe four other customers so we had the choice to seat ourselves. The waitress brought water asked if we had questions, we ordered two appetizers (not good at all) and then never came back to the table to take the remainder of the order! It took us 15 minutes to grab her attention, she wasn't prepared to take our order so she wrote it on a napkin, and again walked away and never came back. After waiting OVER AN HOUR still no food. The waitress disappeared into the back and the manager was walking around with his head in air not taking care of any tables or his customers. It turns out OUR ORDER WAS NEVER PLACED, I ordered a margarita - which I received, only to take a sip and realize it was watered down tequila. We cancelled our order after still no update on the food and decided to leave. We still had to pay for our horrible appetizers and as compensation we got guacamole and chips, so thank you for the whole $5.00 compensation and wasting our time. NEVER GOING BACK TO THIS...

I’ve had the pleasure to visit Mad Mexican several times and I have to say it truly never disappoints me! This is no longer a restaurant, for me, it feels like home. Good Mexican food is always hard to find in toronto, however, with the experienced and renowned Chef, Luis Valenzuela, Mad Mexican food always brings me back to Mexico with it’s authentic and delightful taste! alongside with the super good hospitality of the staff members such as, Dani or David, the extensive amount of drinks served by the efficient Bartender, Rene, are all together combined to give the best experience you could possibly have! I definitely recommend everyone come check this restaurant and experience it by yourself. My favorite go to is the mexican bulldog to drink! but the pina colada is great as well! to eat, tacos never go wrong but i would definitely recommend trying the enchiladas as well as the enfrijoladas, street corn as an appetizer is a must and to end your night i would suggest getting those delicious churros served warm with the cajeta and chocolate sauce 🤤
