Nestled in a small group of establishments at Jane and Annette, at the gates of Baby Point, Queen Margherita occupies what used to be a bank building. The location is conveniently reachable by TTC and there are a fair number of street parking places nearby.
The interior is spacious, with large windows offering a view of the neighbourhood. WIth such exposed walls, one would think that it would be cold in there in the winter, but the wood-burning oven probably does a fair bit to counter that. Sitting near the door is not advisable if you are too sensitive to cold (the vestibule is also thick-paned glass) - but there are only one or two tables that would fit that category.
The level of ambient noise is a bit daunting upon entry - but sitting down at a table offers a different auditory experience, and while the general murmur is not quiet, there is not usually any difficulty in holding conversations without having to shout.
The food is excellent - though it might not be the kind of pizza that everyone is accustomed to. Crusts are thin and airy, and the ingredients used for the toppings taste fresh. I have tried 3 or 4 different personal pizzas and they are all delicious. The cocktail variety is also somewhat limited, but there are enough choices to appeal to a fairly large audience. Prices for food and drink are reasonable, especially considering what you're getting.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone. Again, people tend to have strong opinions on pizza - but these are tasty and not greasy, so they will leave you satisfied. Don't forget to try the tiramisu - it is subtly displayed at the bottom the menu with no description - but it...

My family and I were craving some authentic Italian pizza and they of course said we HAD to go to Queen Margherita. Although it was my first time there, my family had been there multiple times before and raved about the food constantly.
Their pizza was everything I hoped it would be and the caesar salad was all sorts of heavenly! And that lemon panna cotta was to die for! The food was fantastic.
What was not so fantastic was the service provided. There was no introduction to who would be serving us and we were left guessing who exactly we needed to call back over to order our food. Throughout our whole meal it just seemed like our server didn't care too much, giving us one word answers and no check-ins to see if we wanted/needed anything else. When we finally asked for the bill he just dropped off the credit machine and off he went. We waited for him to come back, take the bill, check the machine and do all that fun stuff, but when he didn't we got up to leave. Coats on and about to head out the door he walked straight past us, blatantly turning around, no goodbye or thanks for coming. We were literally ghosted in real life.
For a pretty hefty bill, where you're also paying for the experience (plus more in tip) this was not a good look. I just don't know if there is any level of food that can save bad service. Although the pizza was damn...
Read moreThe pizza here is good but very mediocre in my opinion. The pizza is thin and it is very neapolitan-esque, however, at the end of the day it is just pizza.
We got a total of 5 pizzas and one prix fixe menu item that came with an appetizer, pasta, and dessert.
Each pizza was decently sized (single serving) and came with many toppings. I would give a review for each pizza, but they all tasted pretty similar. I would recommend the prosciutto & arugula, spicy rossini, and pepp & hot honey pizza.
However, I would not recommend the funghi pizza and macaroni and cheese. The funghi pizza was very disappointing and had a yellow cheese on top. At first we thought it was cheddar but after seeing the menu, I noticed it was “smoked mozzarella”. Truthfully, the funghi pizza tasted like flatbread with truffle oil and cheese. The macaroni and cheese wasn’t all so great after, but I would probably recommend sticking to their pizzas anyway.
Something else I noticed is how each pizza came out with what seemed to parmesan on top, but the parmesan looked like it came from a frozen pizza. The cheese wasn’t as melted as you would expect and was still in clumps.
We drove from Richmond Hill to try out this place, and all I would have to say is to only try if you are in the area. I wouldn’t recommend driving all the way down here for...
