A friendly neighbourhood staple that deserves appreciation.

I’ve lived in this neighbourhood for nearly my whole life. A long time ago when I was a kid, my family would take me here, get a slice of square pizza, or some baked goods, before heading home after school. For the longest time I didn’t visit Messina Bakery, until recently I decided to see how it is now that I’m an adult.

The place has not changed a bit, the smell of fresh bread and deli meats, the wide selection of pastas, olives, cookies and sweets. The staff here are very kind and attentive to which I am asked multiple times “How may I help you/Have you been assisted” in my last two visits here.

I’m not someone who comes here to shop for groceries or sit down for a coffee but I can see that they have a wide variety of options and carry the best dry pasta brand De Cecco.

I’m someone that is beginning to frequent here for their hot food as well as grab a sweet here and there. Their hot food is incredibly filling and priced very moderately. They also have daily specials that change by the day. One day I was able to get a large container of Rosé Gnocchi for only $9! The plate was super filling, and I even had to finish it in two portions. I’ve also seen they have brisket as a daily special but have been unable to have it yet.

As for their desserts, their cannoli and tiramisu are just bangers. I personally think the tiramisu is the best dessert I’ve had here so far, but I will be returning to have some of their cheesecake.

If you’re passing by and looking for a quick bite, nice place to grab some groceries/sweets, or maybe a cake for a party or a quick coffee, Messina Bakery is the...

The choices at this place are endless!!!! Whenever I go there is always so so much to choose from. They have everything Italian, it’s even a little Italian grocery store with imported everything!! Baci chocolates, pastas you can’t find in regular grocery stores like annellini and casarece. Bottles of Italian oil, wine, seasonings. They have drinks like Orangina!!!! Brio, aranciata, so many cold Italian drinks. Huge selection of deli meats and cheeses. Super authentic buffet with veal, chicken, classic Sicilian meat and veg arancini which I’m obsessed with, pizza with capicollo and mozzarella is to die for. You can get any type of bread, rolls, panini you want they even have olive bread, focaccia and pizza rolls. Then the baked goods are endless, all sorts of full cakes and pies, mini cheesecakes, sfogliatelle!! They make traditional zeppole during Easter cream or ricotta, they even have baklava!!! There is a full espresso bar with a huge Italian coffee machine. The staff are the kindest people, I always feel welcomed and helped in a timely manner. The food is delicious and options are endless. A new frequent stop and favourite...

I really wanted to like this place as it was recommended to me. My husband bought for me 3 “pistachio” cannoli, and 2 strawberry tarts. I’m sorry but the pistachio cannoli were the worst I have ever tried, they didn’t even tasted like pistachio, they look very green on the inside which I guess it was just colouring, and also I expected to taste like mascarpone but it was more like a weird sugary filling. The actual shell wasn’t crunchy it was very chewy and soggy. And green stuff on the outside I couldn’t tell what it was but it wasn’t good either. The tarts had a similar filling, at least strawberries where good. At the end 2 1/2 cannolis when to the garbage and 1 strawberry tart went to the garbage as well 😕 I give 3 stars because the people that work there are very nice and their other...

I was on the hunt for a variety of Italian Amaretti cookies. I came across this location and decided to check it out on Scarlett. The place is nice there is a lot to look at. There is a deli section and hot food options and a bakery section as you enter the bakery. The staff is ok. They seem to prefer their local customers for a proper greeting but, I was there for the cookies. They have quite a selection of Amaretti cookies. Rasberry, Almond and Pistachios, some with the kiss chocolate on them. They are chewy and delicious for sure. If you love Amaretti cookies as I do then have a look at this location. There is parking in front and it's a bit tight in space.
