Mom’s Basement Inc. — Restaurant in Toronto

I’ve gone to Moms basement a couple times before and every time I had a good experience except for tonight, I had told a couple friends about it and was excited to bring a new friend there but when we walked in and sat down, we waited a couple minutes and no one acknowledged us or asked if we needed anything, so I walked up to the bar to ask for a menu and the guy behind the bar mentioned that there was a “beer menu” on the wall… okay what if I don’t want beer? And then a girl who didn’t even work there tried to show me a cocktail menu but to realize they had taken it away completely even then the bartender didn’t try to help us or assist us in anyway. It felt as though we were trying to get his attention non stop. It started to feel like begging so we left. I understand not one person defines a business but this was an opportunity for me to show a business off to my friends, one I thought I enjoyed. I hope this business tried for rectify this as all we wanted were a couple drinks and we were looking forward to it. We’re consumers looking to spend our money; unfortunate it didn’t go to mom’s...

First time ever coming to this place and I walk in with my friend we both need to use the bathroom so we go in and head downstairs to the bathrooms, we take some pics of the decor in the bathroom and then open the door to the worker standing at the door saying how “it’s not looking good for us” bc we came inside didn’t say hi and went straight to the bathroom, we apologized and said we just travelled far and needed to pee we didn’t mean to come off as rude and then the guy accused us of doing drugs in his bathroom which we said was not the case, he then said that ppl seen us going downstairs which is where the bathroom was and then told us to put our coats on and leave. We were in the bathroom for about 5 minutes total, he then said That he legally cannot serve us because he thought we were doing drugs because we used the bathroom… super disgusted by the behaviour and attitude to imply that because we used your bathroom and didn’t order our drinks first that we’re using drugs in your bathroom.. wouldn’t recommend coming to check this place out considering this is how I was treated for using...

My BF and I had the most amazing time here last night. The bartender was extremely friendly and charismatic. He made us freestyle mocktails as we decided on being alcohol free and shocked us with his skills with every drink. We had great conversations and felt incredibly welcome. By the time we left I felt like I had known the guy for years. We even hugged!

Then there’s the atmosphere. Oh my god. The movies, the TVs, the music, the lighting, the everything. The assignment was understood. I felt like I had stepped into a whole other world. 2022 who?. I was in another era! My BF and I jammed and laughed like we really were just hanging in mom’s basement.

If I could give this place 6 stars.. I would ask...
