I picked up desserts for a get-together, and they were really good! I bought a large pecan pie cake, a summer cabin, a Pina colada, and a Pur Noir. My husband said that they were all delicious. He said the Pur Noir wasn't too sweet, it had a great punch of dark chocolate, and it was filled with a creamy and decadent dark chocolate mousse and a thin layer of sponge cake. The Pina Colada dessert was also really good and super creamy and also not too sweet. He said it was beautiful and so creamy and lightly flavored of pina colada. He was not impressed with the summer cabin cake as he said it was nothing special, it just looked very nice. He enjoyed the pecan pie cake but said the pecan layer was a little dry but tasty. He said the crust was a little thick and dry but said the Italian butter cream the cake was topped with was incredible. I was served by Moe, who was a delight. She was knowledgeable about the products, and she asked if anyone had allergies, amazing! She was super friendly and professional. Such a delightful young lady who obviously loves working there. IMO, she's a keeper who deserves a raise! I'll definitely be back! (Below is a picture of the pecan pie cake)
I went back to get some desserts for some guests who were visiting. The fig topped dessert was the best. It was not overly sweet and filled with a fig compote. The lemon cheesecake had a really nice tartness to it and was perfectly creamy. The chocolate nut crunch dessert bar was the least favorite as it was dry and not very flavourful. The Pina Colada cup was exceptionally creamy and filled with a pineapple compote at the bottom. The pineapple dessert was tasty and tart and had a nice crust. You can't go wrong with almost all of...
Read moreI don't even know what to begin with. I am french from Paris and I established myself in Toronto.
I heard about Nadege and thought I could get a nostalgic taste of my home, such a disappointment.
The macarons are dry as hell and flavourless. Oh wait, it does actually taste sugar and industrial sugar only. Let's be honest about it, the sandwiches are small and NOT good.
I have the feeling Nadège does SCAM people in Canada, because it is way too expensive for the quality !
France doesn't want to get credit for that food, and more ironically, I can name many places BETTER than Nadege on a list below (not as snobby and expensive). Places that are not even french !
So here what I recommend if you're looking for something closer to the reality "patisserie wise".
Sugar Miracles (handmade, fresh and talented on Yonge Street) mon K Patisserie LaDurée Delysées Craque de Crème
For gastronomy's sake, let's face it all together, this place is a FRAUD. So save your money, Nadege doesn't worth the hype. And I agree with previous reviews, only ignorant North American will buy. In France, they will shut Nadege...
Read moreHad an initial great experience with their smoked salmon sandwich on a croissant. Went back a second time, and the croissant tasted soggy/stale and had a 'ripping' rather than crunchy tecture, and the salmon tasted greasy.
Emailed them to see if this was a problem they could fix, and I got the following responses "all the product is made fresh that day from head office/ kitchen in Etobicoke and delivered every morning to all our shops." and "It’s possible that the croissants might’ve been a little over cooked that day, but I can assure you they were not stale."
Basically sounds like this is just luck of the draw. Some days, you get an excellent sandwich. Other days, you get a soggy/greasy one, and that's just what you can expect in the name of day-to-day variability.
For me, not worth it for an $11+tax sandwich. There are a tonne of other places that offer this sandwich in a more consistently...
