We decided, on a lark, to have a celebratory, multi-banh-mi meal as a family - everyone was quite excited. Haven’t had them in a while, and it’s been years since we went to this location as it’s more than a little out of our way. We reviewed the options on their website, so many excellent choices. Arriving at the store we placed our order, had it confirmed back to us, waited for them to be prepared and left. However, in unpacking the sandwiches when we got home 4 of the 8 were the wrong sandwiches, and completely inedible for the members of the family that we had ordered them for. In calling up the store to seek to sort things out, we were met with an unhelpful, demeaning and ultimately fruitless approach to customer service that we’d never experienced before (and we’ve experienced the spectrum). In confirming the information on their website, which was exactly as we had ordered from, and completely correct from what we could glean, we were told that no, in fact the menu number items were different (with no explanation as to how or why, or any solutions offered) and essentially told to go pound sand. What had started as a fun evening enjoying some of our favourite food, turned into frustration, confusion, short tempers and us scrambling to save what was to have been a fun evening by scrounging what we could from our pantry. Never mind the money spent, as well as the time. The. Worst. Just a heads up, this would be one to avoid as there are plenty of other fish in the sea which probably take the concept of getting it right and customer service much more seriously than these jokers. In fact, given the level of sadness we experienced, on a number of levels, you’d probably be hard-pressed to find a worse example. And just in case, should you think this a negative spam review due to the harshness of the review in contrast to my generally positive, but realistic, reviews, please refer to the pictures as proof of our purchase and experience with this...

Like a lot of people, we have been coming since they opened and their dt location prior to that. A lot of people have lately shift to a new banh mi store, and made a lot of false claims of nguyen huong that have served us over decades.

They claim this place put only little bit of pate, false. My recent purchase of the basic cold cut banh mi from here, lots of pate especially the last bite. The new place gives only little and it was tasteless.

Garnishes, they stuffed it here. The new place, barely any. And what's more interesting, the new place's veggies are all tasteless. How do they manage to do that?

The bun itself smells and tastes so good here. The new place, chewy and tasteless, just long... quality vs quantity.

Attitude. No way people, I have been coming here since they first opened. The ladies here are so friendly and I feel welcome like a friend, never have I experienced attitude, even I come 2 minutes before they closed. They might be loud and direct but I find the way they talk are actually like cartoon. (Lol)

Yes, this place's more msg but bearable, also tastes 100 times better and cheaper too.

Love...

I’ve been buying Vietnamese spring rolls from the Scarborough, Middlefield and Steeles location from the very beginning when they set up shop in that plaza. Over the years, the spring roll price has increased by 100% and the size of the spring rolls have shrunk to half the original length so that’s both inflation and shrinkage. Still for $2 each it’s still a decent price these days. The reason for my review is because the quality of the ingredients in the spring rolls have changed dramatically. Nowadays there’s a mushy pasty ingredient in there that ruins the texture of a crunchy crispy spring roll. Also I can barely see any meat in the meat spring roll. Before I could see and taste the nicely seasoned pork. The veg spring rolls used to have a drier consistency of mung beans and again they’ve replaced it with that gummy, pasty, tasteless, mushy ingredient.

The service is no nonsense, straight to the point and abrupt but for an ok spring roll for $2 that’s not a big deal. Be nice if they’d take another form of payment than cash. Please improve on your spring rolls. Go back to how you used...

2022 March 3★ A typical Vietnamese store serving banh mi (Vietnamese style buns) and desserts. This shop also sells an assortment of prepared meats. The assorted cold cut sandwich $3.50 was good. Though not much pickled radish at this price. Meat portions are about the same or slightly less. Given the price, it's still decent value for the money. The pandan dessert served with a pandan sauce was good. Not too sweet, but the pandan was light. The banana dessert paired with an sweet coconut dipping sauce was also ok if your into bananas. Vietnamese style Pork and Beef jerky (made by another place) is also available and if good. Parking plenty, but can get crowded as a supermarket is nearby. Banh Mi buns are a decent price, but they should not skimp on the pickled radish and rather increase the price. As this is the closest banh Mi place in the area, good if you're craving it.

I come here almost every time I visit Toronto to bring food home to the States. Nice selection of Vietnamese prepared foods, like rice or noodles with vegetables and slices of sausage, spring rolls, or cha lua. Some desserts ranged from sweet sticky rice to colorful mung bean, red bean, banana flavored items...fyi that they're all actually not that sweet to the taste. Banh mi sandwiches are still good, even though prices have gone up slightly. I'm not sure if it's my imagination but seems like through covid years, they got a little smaller. We love the #1 that comes with everything. This location is small inside but always busy. They make their own varieties of Vietnamese sausage from chicken or pork and sandwiches are fresh daily. Note: I love to add Japanese kewpie mayo to my banh mi sandwich 🥪 😋 CASH only! 💵
