North Kabab — Restaurant in Toronto

I visited this place by luck last week. I was driving around looking to eat elsewhere when I stumbled upon North Kabab. I cannot tell you how impressed I was by the quality of the food and customer service. The place is beautifully decorated with a friendly cashier. She was ready to answer any questions and engage in meaningful conversation. The food itself is authentic Afghani food. This is not imitation; it's the real deal. And it is fresh. I ordered their Waziri kabab, manto (SO GOOD!), bolani and salad. They went above and beyond for my order as you can see by some of the extras. The bolani was slightly overdone in heavier oil but that was my own fault-- I was rushing them. It still tasted quite delicious ;) I have been wanting to leave this review and look forward to being back here again. The wall art is so gorgeous and takes you on a tour to Afghanistan. I hope anyone reading this truly takes the time to try them out. Even their packaging is top notch. I've not come across an Afghani restaurant as well put together as this one. My new favourite spot. Grand opening was a complete fail. We ordered our food 2 hours prior to arriving. When we arrived and I gave my name for the ordered, the cashier said "Oh I think your order is ready, it's just being packed". There were many people returning with incorrect orders given to them, and many others just waiting a long time for their order.

In the midst of all this craziness, they were still taking new orders from walk-ins! Eventually they stopped and told people they ran out of food.

After 30 minutes, I finally was able to get a word with someone and eventually they admitted that they didn't even have my order! So they were knowingly being dishonest telling people that their orders were ready and just being packed. Now 20 minutes before iftaar time, still over 20 people waiting in person, they asked to take my order again. Not understanding how they could make my order if they've run out of food, I asked and received a refund.

Having a huge sale, on opening day, during Ramadan was a very overzealous and irresponsible decision.

It doesn't matter how many people you served, if you left many without food for iftaar, you should admit it and take responsibility for that. If they were honest from the start about the status of my order, I would have simply made other arrangements, rather than come back home to my family...
