Recently visited Shawarma Bros (June 15) and was very disappointed with the service and the food.
My partner and I stopped by to get lunch. The lady at the counter took my order (a shawarma plate) and when another man entered, she took his order without finishing with me nor asking whether my partner was ready to order. When she finished with the other person’s order, she then asked my partner if he wanted anything. He said he wanted a chicken shawarma pita. She then starts his order (mine is still sitting there not done) and he proceeds to tell her what he wants in his pita. She barely put any toppings in his pita, not to mention the lettuce was turning brown so I’m not sure why she was rationing toppings when it looks like they might want to use up what they have instead letting it sit there to get stale. When she’s almost done with my partner’s order, she goes back to finishing mine. She asked me what toppings I wanted and I begin to tell her. She sparingly puts the veggies and humus I asked for in my order. While she’s doing this, some guy in the back is yelling something to her. She looks confused and distracted, so much so she put the wrong sauce on my order. Given the confusion, I couldn’t be bothered correcting her - I just wanted to get lunch and go. The guy comes out and rings in my order and I said I’m paying for my partner. He rings in $16 and change and I pay, while the lady finishes the shawarma pita order. My partner asked if I paid for his and I said yes, although I wasn’t sure if the price was correct because the plate would’ve been $16. The guy said he rang in both orders but then says he didn’t charge me for the veggies as those are extra. I’ve never heard of that before and I’ve had shawarma plates from other places. I said fine and walked out. When I went on DoorDash I checked the menu. There’s a picture of the shawarma plate with PLENTY OF VEGGIES! Also, it lists all the veggies and sauces to choose from at no additional cost. So I’m not sure what dude was talking about and the lady seemed confused the whole time. My review of the food? I’ve had much better. Other places I’ve been to the pita is so stuffed, they can barely close it (but they do). This one from Shawarma Bros … meh. And the plate I ordered, the chicken was super dry and remember she put the wrong sauce on so that ruined it. Tried to eat it but threw it out halfway. I’m sure we were undercharged because of the confusion in the restaurant but we were “underwhelmed” by the quality of it so I guess I got what I paid for. Definitely not...

Service was not impressive at all.
I believe the owner and his father were manning the station and the service was incredibly slow. I asked the eldest one three times if they "accepted debit" and he interpreted that as "chicken shawarma?". I don't think English is his first language so he could not understand what I was saying.
He continued on to handle the orders of the other individuals ahead of me - that's fine.
When he was done he focused on cleaning the boards and arranging everything without even looking at me! It was only after the younger gentleman looked at me and asked me what I wanted. You'd think that you would pay attention to your customers and order for them as soon as possible so you can cook the meat? The whole process took 15 minutes which was unreasonable considering the few # of people ahead of me.
Anyway - on to the food. I ordered a mixed plate, which came with rice, humus and salad. Toppings were tahini and hot sauce.
The salad was good, although it could have been broken up into smaller pieces. The humus tasted a bit off and watery, but nothing unpleasant. The hot sauce was not hot sauce at all and extremely underwhelming. Same with the tahini - it had no taste and pretty much ruined the enjoyment of the meal considering the meat was a bit on the dry side.
Overall I was pretty underwhelmed considering the price. The portions were appropriate but I expected something more delicious, especially with the positive reviews going in (4.6 rating)
I unfortunately would not visit again unless they improved their service and they get a better tasting...
Read moreI mistakenly went to this resto thinking it was something else based on a recommendation from a friend. This little spot on the east end of Scarborough really surprised me in a very positive way - I had come in to get a falafel sandwich. On the day I visited, what immediately stood out were how fresh their ingredients were - they looked incredible. Easily, the freshest of any mediterranean/middle eastern shwarma/doner/kabob resto I have ever been to. Veggies/accompaniments were shredded well but the way the remainder were cut were excellent (I will explain why momentarily) The falafel itself was simply flavourful and cooked well. The sauces (tahini, garlic, hummus, hot sauce) were all made well although I would have wished for a hotter sauce. Why I mentioned how the vegetables were cut was because when they put the sandwich together, it offered so much texture. You can taste everything in your sandwich rather than feel like everything is mashed together. The only knock on this place was that the staff were speaking their native language and barely engaged with me - ver little customer service (neither here nor there for me but enough to make a difference in 4 to 5 stars). The price for 2 falafel sandwiches was $10 (which is reasonable based on the quality of food). Well done Shwarma Bros - keep up...
