I took some friends to this place because in the past we really loved the food and service, but unfortunately this experience was much different. I am not sure what has happened (new owner?) but it is not the same as it was before.

There was 5 of us in the group and I’m not sure what happened but 3 of us got our food first and my other two friends were completely forgotten about, we waited to eat together for almost 10 minutes before I had to go and ask why my friends orders (who ordered BEFORE us) had not come yet. they seemed confused but said they would get to it. we continued waiting and one of the employees came to our table and proceeded to say “we got the orders for x and x” (which were the ones the 3 of us had received) … I’m not sure what she was implying.. that the other two friends were lying or did not pay?? Anyways my friend showed her the receipt and it was only AFTER that did they start making their order.

To be clear, we understand- mistakes happen, it’s fine- but the way it was dealt with was not ok: waiting for half an hour for a fast food meal Instead of getting to the missing orders right away- trying to find the receipt as if the didn’t see the two people ordering right BEFORE the other orders that they fulfilled

To mention- they did give two free ginger beers as an apology… actually it’s funny because at first they gave only one and it was only after we asked did they give two… like one ginger beer for two orders that went wrong??? but also did not rectify the mistake they made because my friends had ordered a specialty fries ($1 more than regular) but they were only given regular - at that point we didn’t complain anymore because they were too hungry and frustrated

On another note too- the quality of the food has also gone down - very greasy now

I don’t like writing negative reviews but this case was one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve had at...

Food is OK, bit overpriced and nothing special compared to what else you can get in Kensington. The döner you get at Otto's has not much to do with a döner you eat in Berlin.

OK, the quality of the meat is better than most of the German döners for 3-4€ full of minced meat, nitrite and fillers but Otto's uses a shawarma style skewer which gives you larger chunks rather than crispy thin döner kebab meat. So the Otto's döner kebab is technically not a döner kebab. The kind of meat Otto's uses you can find in any decent middle eastern place in Toronto for less money and equally good or better in taste. I would expect proper yaprak döner meat which you can get in Toronto in Turkish ocakbasi restaurants from such a place for that price.

The bread was OK, a little bland for my taste and too thin for a döner because it cannot take up the sauce properly. Sauces were good and fresh as was the salad inside. Overall the portion was too small for the price and it takes them quite long to put together a simple Döner. Also, Otto's does sell German beer and Club Mate which is neat.

Overall, an option if you have a craving for an imitation döner and want to go back to Berlin for some minutes eating döner and looking at the Berghain painting on the wall. However, if you want a tasty döner dish, better go to a...

This post is not to be negative about this place but just more so a msg to management about my thoughts

I used to come here a lot as I loved the food specially since it is bang on Turkish German street food and you cant find that anywhere else in the gta

The front desk guy is extremely rude and has just really bad energy I am not the only person that thinks this because even when I recommended my clients in the past to go hear they told me the guy with the curly hair is supper rude with bad energy and overall unpleasant

The first time I had the experience with this person I thought maybe he just had a bad day and we all can have a bad day. Time after time when I went back again it was the same thing over and over again which proves he not the nicest.

I personally believe first impression and experience in the service industry is everything

That being said the food is still bomb but not as good as it used to be.

This is not to take credit away from this place as said it’s just sad to see a place that was perfect be...

This is a popular place in Kensington Market. This place serves authentic Berlin Doner (as the name suggests :P). They serve sandwiches and boxes of doner made of either chicken, lamb, veal, Holloumi and Vegetables. We ordered Chicken Doner and a Halloumi Sandwich. Halloumi is a semi hard cheese made of sheep and goat's milk. It is also called "Grilling Cheese". You get the option to choose your vegetables, add fries or feta to you doner sandwich. Also, their homemade sauces are great! The sandwiches tastes awesome and filling. I would definitely recommend the Halloumi sandwich to everyone visiting the place. Also, they have a good selection of beers. This place has good ambience, is decently priced and is crowded during lunch times. However, they have quick turnaround times. Also, near the counter, they have a narrow staircase downwards, that leads to the washroom. I did not use their washroom, but the stairs are narrow.

Stopped by for a quick snack since the name sounded legit and even reminded me of the now long-gone Otto's Bier Hall. On this late summer outing most people were outside, so the place was pretty quiet when I came in. I ordered the Veal and Lamb Teller and it came out fast. Despite the aged interior, the food itself was a pleasant surprise. The meat was juicy, sauces balanced, and it was fun to try bites both with and without the sauces. Having it over fries instead of the usual rice was a nice change too, and I really liked how the meat was sliced differently from the usual shaved style which gave more texture in each bite. Honestly, when I’m in Kensington it’s usually for Birria tacos, but this spot is now a real contender. I’ll probably struggle to choose between them next time.

I've had my fair share of shawarmas and doners (greek-style) but this German doner experience was beyond expectations. The ingredients were fresh and the menu was simplistic and easy to navigate. The establishment is nice and bright and the servers/counter staff are attentive and efficient. There is plenty of seating, both inside and outside (great for a summer lunch) and for people-watching in Kensington. Highly recommend the teller box and the doner (the bread was un-real!) with both chicken and the veal/lamb mixture. Wish the teller box included more meat for the price, but minor. They had a watermelon lime slushie offering for the summer on a side board, that was average tasting. Will be back again when the doner craving hits, because it will...
