Here’s the thing. I always come here n order. I have now put about 5 new customers on to this restaurant. I have been coming for the last two years now. Food is great that’s why I always come back but today the service I had just received and the type of disrespect I had just encountered is beyond me. The man looked me dead in my eyes upset because I had told him the pad Thai was not good at all and wanted to switch the meal regardless I was still paying. Plus tip cause I never leave without a tip. Then I had my friend ask for them to pack her soup so she doesn’t spill because they give it big bowls but instead went on to say we are no longer serving you guys as customers anymore even after telling them we have been coming here for quite some time and the followed along with “ I know” . Not that serious you’re a restaurant don’t you have customer service skills ? I’m disgusted and appalled by the customer service. I am East African and my friend is Egyptian and to be treated like this when you “know” we come here often is beyond me. First rule of customer service is making sure your paying customer is at their happiest especially when nobody was giving you a hard time. At all. Just cause I asked for a switch (plus was willing to still pay for the food) and to seal the deal my friend asked them to pack the soup away, on top of that my sister who had just gotten out of surgery requested soup… i left it there because with that nasty behaviour you will absolutely not get a dollar out of me. DO NOT go to this establishment they do not care for their customers. I’m furious writing this review as I have been coming here ordering here for the last two years and to be treated like dirt ? Disgusting. Think before coming to this restaurant. And focus on having your servers being trained then to just all stand 10 deep by the cash. You have other things to worry about other than me just simply asking for a switch off of the menu plus I was even going to pay for the pad Thai for their inconvenience. You now lost all the customers I had brought to your establishment due to your nasty behaviour today. If you were having a bad day simply don’t take it out on paying customers maybe ? To be banned from a restaurant I have been coming to for two years also spreading great news about this is hilarious if you ask me. Or if your racist …try not to maybe take the table with the coloured folks and get upset because I’m asking for help just like any other PAYING CUSTOMER. Left in shock. disgusting behaviour from your team. And I just scrolled down to see other reviews you literally had no problem switching someone else’s order that they didn’t like and u told them to speak up if you weren’t happy and that u would 100% replace or refund them ???? . What happens when my black self speaks up ? U we’re mad and said you guys always send back food NEVER HAVE I EVER. 9/10 I take to go so for you to say this is funny wrong and...
Read moreHey family,
Here’s an honest review of my visit to PHO HOUSE located at 5230 Dundas St W, Etobicoke, ON. My girlfriend and I visited for lunch on January 4th, 2022 just before Ontario shuts down dine-in and I wanted to share my lunch experience with you below:
Location/ Business amenities: 1 out of 1 star This restaurant is very easy to get too considering it’s close proximity to Kipling station and Dundas street. The only catch is it shares the parking lot with other notable businesses including a Shoppers Drug Mart. It can get a little busy during rush hour however let’s not lose sight of the fact that parking is free and the restaurant is easily accessible. They also offer a 10% off on take-out for orders above $25 before taxes. In cash! :) This is if the restaurant is busy and you aren’t feeling the wait. This restaurant is also listed on major apps including UBER EATS.
Staffing: 1 out of 1 star Upon entry you’re instantly greeted by a head host. They give you plenty of dining options including dine-in. take-out, delivery or pick up later in the evening. We opted for dine-in as the restaurant had few guests and this will be our last chance before shutdowns. Plus we were craving fresh Pho.
Service: 1 out of 1 star From the moment we sat down and ordered our drinks we waited very little for our food. The service was great and well paced. The table had all of our condiments and eating utensils. Tables were clean and sanitized as staff cleans after every guest leaves.
Food: 1 out of 1 star The food arrived hot and fresh. We ordered the Cripsy Chicken Spring rolls for appetizers, Pho House Special Rice Noodle Soup as our main and shared a delicious Sweet & Sour Chicken with steamed rice. The food was very well presented and tasted fresh. Everything was perfectly prepared and we were also able to take it home for leftovers.
Wow factor: Half a star This is where it gets tricky to review a restaurant based on the atmosphere and experience based on everything going on but the business could use a little bit of love and an upgrade to the overall decorum and furniture. It was a bit cold with CP24 playing in the background. There is music but still doesn’t capture the cozy dining experience. This is why I give it half a star. No doubt this business has faced challenges with the pandemic and I’m hoping the local community tastes and experiences this wonderful food so the business continues to thrive and stay afloat.
Overall we enjoyed our last lunch out for some time. All of the condos in the surrounding area are lucky to have this restaurant close and if you’re feeling some Pho no doubt you have to give this place a try. We are very happy with our restaurant choice and hope to visit again soon. With that I give it a 4.5 out of 5...
Read moreThis review is strictly focused on service we received on this particular day during a dine-in experience in early June 2025. The food here is good and consistent. The value is noteworthy, and the atmosphere was good too.
During my lunch there, my partner and I ordered two pho noodle dishes. This dish comes with garnishes (bean sprouts and herbs) that's served on a small plate. To save a trip, the server placed the garnish dish on top of one of the bowl of pho (the garnish plate is square so hangs over the round bowl). He placed the two bowls on our table and leaves. I thought it was mildly rude of him to do this without taking the garnish plate off the bowl and placing it on the table, but I thought this was the way it's done here so I didn't think much of it thereafter. That is until I noticed the same server bring out two bowls of pho with the garnish dish on top of one of the bowls to another table, but this time, he takes garnish dish off the bowl and placed it on the table. I also noticed the couple at that table was Caucasian.
This was very sad to witness. FYI: level of busyness was the same or higher after we came. As much as I want to believe the reason is not because of my partner and I's Asian ethnicity that influenced this server to treat us less than the other couple, but I can't deny how often I see this happen at Asian restaurants in general, especially Vietnamese restaurants. This is not an isolated occurrence, but something that happens unnecessarily too many times. To many, this is a non-issue. To people on the receiving end of this time and time again, it's disenchanting. I am Vietnamese and to think I get treated like a second-class citizen in a Vietnamese restaurant is frustrating. We pay the same, and should be treated the same.
I won't stop going here because of this since everything else is good, aforementioned. I know it's more a subconscious bias, and this server probably didn't do it on purpose. But the bias is unnecessarily there, and I don't know how to help it not be there. I hope the owner of this restaurant reads this and train their employees in this context better. Thank you for...
