I recently had the misfortune of dining at this pizza spot, and I must say that the experience was utterly disappointing. From start to finish, the service I received was nothing short of unacceptable.
First and foremost, upon entering the restaurant, I was greeted with a complete lack of acknowledgement from the staff. It was as if I had walked into an abandoned establishment. After standing awkwardly for several minutes, I finally managed to grab the attention of a disinterested server who begrudgingly escorted me to a table.
Once seated, the problems only worsened. It took an excruciatingly long time for someone to approach my table to take my order. The staff seemed more interested in chatting amongst themselves than attending to the needs of the customers. It was evident that they lacked both urgency and basic customer service skills.
When my order eventually arrived, it was clear that the kitchen staff shared the same apathetic attitude as the front-of-house team. The pizza was lukewarm and lacked any of the promised toppings. It appeared as if they had hastily thrown a few ingredients together without any regard for quality or presentation.
As if the subpar food and indifferent service weren't enough, the staff's dismissive attitude towards my concerns was the final straw. When I politely addressed the issues with my meal, the server showed no interest in rectifying the situation. Instead, they brushed off my complaint with a half-hearted apology and an empty promise to "do better next time."
What truly astounded me was the lack of management presence throughout the entire ordeal. It seemed as if there was no one in charge, or if there was, they were content with allowing this level of service to persist. It was a clear indication that customer satisfaction and maintaining a quality dining experience were not priorities for this establishment.
I had hoped for a delicious and enjoyable meal at this spot, but unfortunately, what I encountered was a complete failure in providing even the most basic level of service. With countless other pizza options available in the area, I strongly advise potential diners to steer clear of this establishment unless they enjoy feeling unimportant...
Read moreLibretto is my favorite consistent pizza place in Toronto. The one downtown has been the host of many work and casual dinners for me. I was so excited to see that they were opening one near my home in North York, so I wouldn't have to go to work just to get a slice.
The North York location has a different ambiance than the downtown one. First off, the space is HUGE - this might be why some of the reviews and myself feel like the service is a bit lacking at times. The place was not packed for Sunday lunch, but it seemed like all the tables were spread out and worked by the same wait-staff. I totally understand them not seeing a wave from across the room, but it was a bit of an odd seating arrangement. The waiter was useful otherwise with suggesting something to order.
In terms of the food, it was good. My partner and I both got the $19 lunch special, which came with a starter salad and a choice of pizza/sandwich. My boyfriend got the Margherita Pizza and I got the meatball sandwich. We liked our starter salads, but I didn't think it was anything special. I LOVED my meatball sandwich. The taste and bread was amazing. The only problem was it was sooo tall that I could not take a single full bite from it. I had to split it into top and bottom and still unhinge my jaw just to enjoy it. My boyfriend's pizza was good.
I would definitely get their sandwiches again. I don't know if I would recommend the pizza special, as their regular menus have more interesting topping offerings and are a larger size as well. I would recommend this location, but hopefully it gets busier so the vibes...
Read moreMy opinion of this place is very mixed. There are no other Italian restaurants in the area so we come here when we want wood oven Neapolitan pizza and don’t want to go south of the 401. The food and the drinks are actually pretty good, what’s not good at this place is the service! When you walk in the door you are never greeted and often ignored. The servers often forget something or take forever to take your order or bring your food all at once and they just aren’t friendly. Reading other reviews it seems like a common theme. The manager seems absolutely clueless and like he doesn’t care. Considering this is a chain it doesn’t compare to the other pizzeria Librettos in the city unfortunately. It may survive simply because it has no competition and because it often gets the overflow of guests who cannot get into cafe landwer next door.
UPDATE November 12, 2023. Came back with some friends who had never been before. Was greeted promptly and very friendly fashion by manager. New offerings on menu since my last visit. Tried one of them : pizza alla Norma with eggplant and ricotta salata. Usually get the marinara so this was a nice alternative. Very good and will definitely recommend and order again. The manager came several times to check up on us and food came out very fast. Was offered complimentary coffee and biscotti to accompany it. Definitely impressed and improved service since our last visit. Hopefully this will continue so we receive similar service at...
