“Extremely Disappointing and Uncomfortable Experience”
I’ve been to this pho restaurant before and usually enjoy the food, but my recent visit was shocking and disappointing. I came in alone to dine in because I wasn’t feeling well and was craving pho. When I walked in, the manager (or whoever was in charge) immediately assumed I was a delivery driver. She walked up to me and said, “DoorDash, come.” I told her I wasn’t a delivery driver and was here to eat, but she ignored me and still tried to hand me someone else’s food order.
I explained again that I was there to dine in, and she responded, “Usually, people who stand there are delivery drivers.” This was frustrating because I’ve seen other customers stand in the same spot while waiting to be seated, so her reasoning didn’t make sense. I felt like she racially profiled me because I’m South Asian, (also I’m a first generation born Canadian just wanted to put that out there because of all the Indian hate I’m not an immigrant or have an accent and live in the area) but instead of addressing her mistake, she tried to deflect by blaming me for standing there.
After seating me, she ignored me the entire time. When I finished my meal, she came over—not to apologize—but to ask me to take down the honest review I had written about the situation. She tried to gaslight me, saying what she did wasn’t a mistake and that it was somehow my fault. She even offered me a 10% discount if I took the review down, which was honestly insulting—it barely covers tax.
The whole situation felt extremely awkward, uncomfortable, and unprofessional. I felt trapped as she repeatedly pressured me to delete my review. This was an incredibly disappointing experience, especially because I’ve come here before without issues.
I’m sharing this because no customer should be treated this way, and I hope the management addresses...
Read moreHad a friend recommend this place to me because he knows how much I love Thai food. For me, Sukho Thai has the best curry in the city. I've tried tons of curry around town and I used to think that no other food spot could match the master chefs at Sukho's Wellington location. Then I tried Saigon Pai's Golden Curry and my opinion began to change. Despite the minimal ingredients, it's extremely tasty. I'm at the tail end of my 30s but I haven't grown out of being a picky eater. I feel like most other restaurants don't take enough care with their curry recipes and just add in whatever vegetables they have available. When I opened the container from Saigon Pai, I was shocked to see that it wasn't overloaded with a bunch of superfluous ingredients. They know what they're doing in the Saigon kitchen, and they don't need to mask their work with a blanket of unwanted veggies. To be honest, the curry didn't look like it would be anything special when I first opened the food dish, but my god is the taste ever heavenly! On top of being an absolute treat for the taste buds, the staff went the extra mile to secure my takeout order by wrapping the container in plastic. I was a bit worried bringing it home because I could feel the liquid sloshing around in the container, so it was a pleasant surprise to see that Saigon has thought of every contingency in terms of how their food is handled. That really put them over the top with me because no other spot I've been to has gone to the trouble of wrapping their food containers in clingwrap. Excellent food, friendly staff, definitely give this place a try if you've never been before. Highly recommend to picky eaters as well, this place makes easy...
Read moreLocated in the heart of Cabbage Town in downtown Toronto, Saigon Pai is a popular restaurant specializing in Vietnamese and Thai cuisine. They offer an extensive selection of dishes prepared with fresh quality ingredients and adhere to a philosophy based on the importance of presenting guests with food that is aesthetically pleasing to the eye. The owners of the restaurant are quite engaging. They love to listen and talk to guests about the food they enjoyed, and clearly demonstrate that they truly care about the experience their guests had at the restaurant. The restaurant itself is spacious and airy and consists of good size booths and open table seating. It is tastefully decorated with modern impressionistic and abstract artwork througout on a backdrop of earth tones that seems to deliver a calming effect in addition to creating an artsy and easy-going ambience. Overall, the restaurant is well organized and very clean. Remarkably, both Vietnamese and Thai dishes are prepared very well. The taste, texture, freshness, portion size and appearance of each food item our party selected was excellent and the cost for each item was very reasonable. We had approximately 50 to 60 people in our party and we were able to sample many of the food items prepared. I think it is safe to say that everyone was more than satisfied with the quality of food. On a final note, customer service was excellent. Staff were very accommodating, well mannered and courteous. The owners are down-to-earth, and very friendly. They understand the importance of customer satisfaction, which in the end made our visit to Saigon Pai a...
