Do you enjoy a place that brings back nostalgic memories, while also offering excellent service, a pet-friendly environment, and support for the LGBTQIA+ community? Then visiting Golden is a great option for those in the Cabbagetown area.

Golden has two areas: the outdoor area, with a large patio, tables, chairs, and umbrellas for sunny days. 🐶The wall paintings add a touch of color, and the space welcomes your furry friends. The restaurant serves them with great care, even providing water bowls.

The second area is indoors and has two very large rooms, one with a bar and the other with arcade games. The pub is a great space, and its decor evokes memories from the 70s to the 90s, with photos, games, and colors.

The service is excellent, with polite and helpful staff.

For families with small children, the pub doesn't have high chairs or child seats, and the bathroom doesn't have changing tables.

♿️For guests with disabilities, the pub has stairs to enter, no automatic doors, and the restrooms aren't accessible. The pub is located in an older residence, which makes moving in difficult.

The menu offers many food options, including oysters, which are always very fresh. For beer lovers, the menu has excellent options, including house specials.

Note: 25-cent coins are required to use the slot machines.

If you're in the area, it's worth...

First and foremost, I will not be coming again or recommending the place to anyone.

It was a rather less busy evening at the place and at first I even liked it. The server was very friendly, unfortunately I didn't get her name. Very professional, got everything right, checked in if we were doing alright and despite some waiting time for food everything was nice. After we were done with dinner - everyone paid and we headed out. As we are leaving, we say "thank you" to the staff that worked that evening... And it be fine, but barman couldn't stop himself and instead of "Have a good night" or "np, come back again" made a tasteless comment of "Don't thank me, tip me"... I guess it depends on where you come from, but I found that comment quite unprofessional to say least... I could tell by the look on our servers face that she was not impressed by the remark of her colleague and neither was I...

Otherwise, attaching a picture of schnitzel (which was ok), so you know what else to expect if you decide to order...

a very cozy and welcoming place: great atmosphere and service. perfect for larger groups - as it is quite spacious. There is a patio - below the street level, so it is cooler and more quiet there. I love the large pigeon statue mounted over the entrance - and super creative collage on washroom doors (movie stars captured with variety of birds, but mostly pigeons). Good and manageable beer selection (you don't spend a half an hour contemplating your options) - but nearly all beer styles are represented. There is draft and some tall cans, plus cocktails and wine of course. non alcoholic beer is also available. Food portions are huge so bring your Tupperware. the menu goes beyond your typical pub fare - lots of interesting choices. rather on salty side. Our server was amazing: friendly, approachable, knowledgeable...
