Shawarma Grill Xpress — Restaurant in Toronto

I have been visiting this place and ordering from this place for past 4 years, and the food has always been good and I believe this to be one of the best place for shawarma in the surrounding area. I really like the food and will give 5 star for it. I am writing this review because i wasn’t happy with the service.

Today I went and got a beef and chicken plate from here, the guy who greeted me was very rude. I asked him why he charged me $17 and change to which he replied “this is canada we have to pay taxes” it was my bad that I dint calculate taxes into account and then he asked me if I have been here before to which I said yes, and then he asked me what I would like to have and i was curious and asked him what was there in the container (which rice and other things) to which he replied “ you have been here before you said” ( of course I have but dont work there and this is not the way to demean a client) and then he asked me what side I would like to which I said veggies with Hummus , I believe he didn’t hear me saying hummus and started packing , when i asked him if he put hummus in the container he said” i asked you , you didnt say anything and now i have packed it quite annoying right to open n put again” ( I believe restaurants prime focus is customer service and thats why people visit them, i found this to be rude) , then he asked me —-which pop I would like and as I was thinking he said -“ sorry you dont get a pop as you ordered mix platter “ - i found this whole experience very berating and the guy to be very rude.

Again the FOOD IS GOOD and i have been ordering from this place for years but today it was a bad experience.

He maybe having a bad day but thats no way to talk...

I really don't like giving places a 1-star rating but it's only because I'm never coming back and the sad thing is I would have given them a 4 or 5 based on my first visit, second visit is when it went wrong. I went there as I waited for a certain week of the day to get the lunch chicken shwarma lunch special and this happened: 1) the takeout flyer they gave me before did not have the same prices that are listed inside the restaurant I guess they updated them in the restaurant but didn't bother on the flyers. 1) I got the babaganush separate on the side which was 3.99 or 4.99 don't really care about the price but it was a bit sour and that's not how it's supposed to be. The chicken inside my chicken pita was technically a piece of a chicken but it was just layers of fat and skin, maybe I just got an unlucky cut but that's all I had - now imagine the texture in my mouth as I take a big bite...yes I almost puked and after opening the wrap it was that kind of chicken pieces I had. Place inside is clean and owners/staff are nice but just not enough to save...

Friendly service but I am very disappointed with their Chicken Shawarma Plate. I place my order with the two sides (salad amd fries), and as I am waiting I see the staff starting to make a sandwich. So I stop her and remind her I ordered the plate. No problem, mistakes happen. This is not the reason I am giving this place a one star. The reason is the quality of their plate as a whole. This how a plate is crafted at this place: toss salad, toss chicken, toss fries on top of salad and chicken. Then toss topping on top of everything else (tomatoes, pickles, turnips, and a big splash of hummus!!!!) and to top it all dranch the plate with garlic sauce, ketchup and tahini on top of everything else including the salad. So by the time I got home my food was a messy mush of everything... I have never seen anything like before and I love chicken shawarma and order it often. No big deal since I was going home, but I also got no napkins or takeour cutlery.... Overall I am just shocked and very disappointed in my food. What a...
