I've been to this restaurant a few times over the last couple of years but sadly the most recent experience was so unpleasant that I don't think I would ever return.
Their food is decent. For a lower tier sushi restaurant, you get pretty good value for what you pay. However, when I ordered takeout via their website and for some reason they never received the order. This restaurant uses the Snappy platform on their website. Because of this, I was unable to pick up my order, which looked like it went through my credit card. The kitchen proceeds to make an order which is incorrect. After returning home and realizing they gave the wrong order, I called the restaurant back and they said they can make the rest of my order. When I returned to to restaurant, the lady said she can't actually do that after checking with the manager, and that it's a known problem they've been having with the website orders.
So, with online orders being so mainstream nowadays, I'm shocked that this restaurant continues to use a buggy platform, known to have caused issues with their customer's orders. Secondly, I don't understand why the waitress/hostess promised that I would get the rest of my order but did not honour that promise when I arrived back at the restaurant. I was then told I would get refunded my money... however, how can I even be sure of that if they didn't even receive my order? Overall it was such a frustrating and unprofessional experience. I ended up contacting Snappy and they said my money would be...
Read moreI usually write good reviews only, I’d rather not to leave any for bad experiences because I know how it has an impact to their business.
HOWEVER, I need to say this after 6th visit of this restaurant. This lady needs some change in her ATTITUDE. At first I thought she must had a long day but that was not all. I had to-go lunch special yesterday(Thursday) and she was somehow very unpleasant. She also tried to charge me every 50 cents for wasabi when there was a free small-size wasabi. She could’ve asked nicely something like, “We can give you small amount of free wasabi but if you want more you’d have to pay 50 cents for larger size next time.” And of course, the customer would totally understand the protocol/policy regarding the restaurant system.
I also work at the sushi restaurant and if you don’t think you belong to customer service field, please don’t. It’s very sad to have a very mad/angry server every time I visit, I feel sorry for her and the restaurant. Otherwise, everything was okay, the other lady was super friendly. I will still be visiting this place but I would rather give more tips to other server for attentive and enjoyable experience at this restaurant. I usually give 10% tips for to-go but definitely nothing for her. She does not...
Read moreI recently visited Sushi Style while hanging out near a friend’s place and decided to give it a try. I ordered the Maki Set B, which comes with a miso salad, eight pieces each of California roll, spicy salmon roll, and dynamite roll. I also added a side of broccoli tempura; one of my personal favourites.
The good: the sushi tasted fresh, which is always appreciated. The ingredients seemed good quality, and the broccoli tempura was nicely done, crispy and satisfying without being overly greasy.
However, there were a few drawbacks. The rolls crumbled as soon as I picked them up, which made eating them with chopsticks more frustrating than it should be (and I’m pretty skilled with chopsticks). The construction of the rolls could definitely use improvement. Even more concerning: I found a fish bone in the spicy salmon roll. It was a minor one, but still something to be cautious about.
Overall, Sushi Style has potential, especially if you're nearby and craving sushi. But between the delicate assembly and the fish bone surprise, I’d say it’s a mixed experience, decent, but not...
