Edited: We went back and tried the Tiramisu finger/log. If you like Tiramisu, then you must try this here, it was absolutely incredible. It was velvety smooth, it was not too sweet, not overly flavored with coffee and perfectly moist. Another hit! I tried some absolutely delicious desserts from this new bakery today, and boy, am I happy that I did. First off, the bakery is clean and bright, and the moment you walk through the door, your nostrils get hugged with the beautiful sweet aroma of the delectable baked goods that are made on the premise. I tried 6 different desserts and they were all good. Let's start with my second favorite the Revani, which is a semolina cake soaked in a honey syrup. It was absolutely beautiful. It was just a little dense and not overly soaked in the honey syrup, just enough to make it super moist. It's a must try. I've grown up with this dessert, but my mother has never made it this good. Next was a choux pastry puff that was filled in a light pastry cream. It, too, was incredibly delicious. The choux pastry was light and a little crispy, as a proper choux pastry puff should be, and the pastry cream it was filled with was smooth, light and lightly sweetened, probably the best choux puff I've ever had. Next was a rose water and honey syrup drenched almond cookie, which was also good but not one of my favorites of the bunch, probably because I am not a fan of rose water. Although I could taste the rose water, it wasn't overly floral or perfumy. Next was the double chocolate cookie that was tasty. It was crisp on the outside and chewy in the middle and full of chocolate chips. My least favorite of the bunch was the banana bread. Although it was super moist and a little dense, like a good banana bread should be in my opinion, I felt it needed more of a banana flavour kick and a little less baking powder. It had a little of that weird taste when you add too much baking powder, but other than that, it was good. Lastly, let me tell you about my favorite dessert of the bunch. This delectable little creamy white dessert had fallen out of heaven. I don't remember the name but it was small and round in shape, it had a little bit of vanilla sponge cake one the bottom, it was covered in a creamy, slightly sweet mound of vanilla cream that had gelatin in it and it was filled with some sort of a dense filling, maybe Ube?... and it was sprinkled with cocoa. It was incredible, it was slightly sweet, it was creamy and just darn delicious. The only thing I wish, is that there was parking somewhere around there for convenience, but luckily I live close enough where I can walk there. What I really like about this place is that the desserts are from all over the world. It's quite a treat to be able to buy wordly desserts under one roof. I'll definitely be back to try their other goodies as everything looks delicious! A top-notch first experience at this diverse...
Read moreSweet Addictions Bakery Cafe on Sherbourne Street in Toronto is a delightful surprise that goes beyond just sweet treats. During my recent visit, I had the pleasure of trying their roast beef sandwich, and it was nothing short of fantastic.
From the moment the sandwich arrived, it was clear that care and quality were at the forefront of their culinary offerings. The roast beef was perfectly tender and flavorful, seasoned just right, and piled high between two slices of fresh, artisan bread. Each bite was a savory delight, with the meat melting in my mouth, complemented by a hint of horseradish and fresh greens that added a refreshing crunch.
The cafe's atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a cozy spot to enjoy a meal. The decor is charming, with an eclectic vibe that encourages you to sit back and savor your food. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure my dining experience was enjoyable from start to finish.
What I particularly appreciated was the balance of flavors in the sandwich. It wasn’t overly heavy, allowing me to enjoy every bite without feeling weighed down. Plus, their house-made sauces elevated the sandwich to a whole new level.
Beyond the sandwich, the bakery's array of desserts and pastries is tempting, but I was so satisfied with my meal that I didn't indulge this time. However, I will definitely be returning to try their sweet offerings on my next visit.
In conclusion, Sweet Addictions Bakery Cafe is not just a place for desserts; it’s a hidden gem for savory delights as well. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and try their roast beef sandwich—you won’t be...
Read moreI just finished eating one of the most delicious Danishes I've ever had - this was a pistachio Danish from Sweet Addictions. Burnished gold, dusted with ground pistachios and shatteringly crispy on the outside, yielding to buttery layers that melt in your mouth. Forget taking a picture, one taste and I ate it like a starving man. The name is well advised!
Just opened at a location on Sherbourne Street that has somehow never had a long-term client. The shop is state-of-the-art bakery-shop white, pristine in its cleanliness, and displays its gorgeous pastries - including Middle Eastern treats such as baklava - and cakes that are miniature works of art like jewels at Tiffany.
At over $4.00 including tax for a Danish, $3.95 for a croissant and $7.95 for a mini cake that might just serve two people, this is a bit of a splurge, but if my first encounter is any indication, well worth it. I hope locals will support this new business, which apparently...
