All Days — Hotel in Toronto

Honestly, I expected not that great of an experience.. but I ended up being very surprised. I found my room to be perfectly clean. The kitchen was just as a kitchen should be.. there were actually 2 fridges, so there was plenty of space to put our groceries. Perfectly working stove, oven, microwave, plus anything you need, like frying pans, pots, strainers, baking pans, utensils, a good array of knives, a cutting board.

I found that the owners/attendants were friendly and accommodating. In fact, when check in was listed at 2pm, I was able to come in with myself and my young daughter sooner since the room was ready.

I would 100% recommend this hostel. You can't get much better than this, for the price and the proximity to Sherbourne station on the TTC. The station is about a 3-4 minute walk. And you can get to downtown within.. 10-12 minutes.

My overall impression was that it was clean, accommodating, comfortable and very accessible to transit. I also felt that the area was safe. There is a No Frills grocery store directly across the street as well.

They also have a few parking spots (that you need to pay for).. but at way less of a cost that you would pay for anywhere else.

In my opinion, I was very happy. I really don't think you can go wrong with...

WARNING BEDBUGS!!!!!

I had a really bad experience there! I came with my family to spend 3 nights.

In the first place, we discovered there where no real windows in the bedroom. Instead, there where two windows in the ceilling that could not be opened nor be blinded. If you like being woken up at 6am, you are at the right place.

For the price we paid, would it have been the only problem, it would have been okay but we also discovered bedbugs! In both of the beds !

The owner first denied that fact but his employee then told us they knew about it. But he clearly didn't take it seriously.

As it was already late, we had to spend the 1st night there, and we found lots of other bugs in the room.

The next day, the same employee told us he couldn't do anything and he couldn't refund the price for the room. He was clearly dishonest.

Fortunately, we had reserved the room via Booking which pressured them and got us our money back.

I understand that the presence of bedbugs is not the staff's fault, but their way to deal with the situation was abbsolutely not ok!

I advise you not to stay at that place if you don't want to take horrible souvenirs with...

Comfy private room, comparable to motel pricing (with 2 shared bathrooms per floor). Each floor has different shower/tub options. 4th floor had skylights - my room did too ! Made me so happy to have natural light (that gets 1 star right there). There are 2 kitchens for all 4 floors, wish I knew that sooner than my last day as it would have made 5 stars - if it wasn't for the cramped cooking with people hanging out in the kitchen to drink due to only having 1 common area on the main floor beside reception... (I am not a drinker - but understand that most hostels support it). Subway 1 block away. Green park space nearby. Parking spots questionable.

Heads up for people who plan to cook a lot, No Frills grocery store can't be any closer, and all the equipment and dishes are there (save specialty cookware), although there is no Tupperware or seran wrap to store leftovers. Bring masking tape so you can put your name on stored items, or let others know it's up for grabs when you leave 😊
