Taste Seduction Jamaican Cuisine — Restaurant in Toronto

I was looking forward to eating from this restaurant with all the great reviews. I cannot speak about the service and or the atmosphere as I only ordered from Uber eats. How ever, I can comment on two of their most recommended dishes.

The fettuccine in a coconut curry with smoked jerk chicken was a little better then just OK. The chicken was delicious, smoked and tender. The smokiness over powered the jerk flavor but we still enjoyed it. The noodles however was not impressive at all. The curry sauce was more of a soup, couldn't taste the coconut curry. It felt watered down. Im sorry. I probably will not order this again. The chicken I will for sure try again.

Now, for the ox tail with rice and peas. I have had bad ox tail and great oxtail before! This one does not make the cut. The meat tasted like it was smoked before it was dropped in the ox tail gravy. Perhaps it was over cooked in the smoker and once it was dropped in the gravy, all of the wonderfull flavors the meat unleashes into the stew were gone. The sauce was not at all what I expected. It was salty and mixed with flavors I did not want to see in a sauce like green and red peppers. The rice and peas was my biggest disappointment. The rice was saugy and too sticky, flavorless and they used a small and short grain rice. Over all I will not order this dish again, and would not recommend it. Definitely not worth the price.

In conclusion, I will try other dishes from here but...

During my search to find a caterer that could accommodate a Sunday lunch for 70 people, I was referred to this restaurant. When I talked with the owner Vernon, he was able and willing to cater for me. He was very accommodating as he allowed me to pick up an order before the restaurant even opened for my targeted date.

I ordered festivals, jerk chicken, fried chicken, rice & peas and garden/caesar salads. Everything was prepared on time and with care. The food was piping hot (freshly cooked) when I arrived to pick it up.

Due to some scheduling issues at my party, we didn’t serve the food until 2.5 hours after I picked it up. Thankfully, it was still warm when food was served!

The food was a SMASHING HIT! Everybody at the party loved the food. The jerk chicken was top notch, some of the best I had! It also came with a lot of gravy - which made the rice and peas extra tasty. The fried chicken was also great! Keep in mind, we weren’t able to eat it right away. I was expecting this lot to be as good as the jerk because fried foods get soggy if not eaten right away. Having said that, the fried chicken was still amazing!!

Once the party was over, people rushed to take home the Jamaican food! I’ve gotten many compliments about the food and I am glad I was recommended this place.

I took my mom to Taste Seduction for her bday lunch after a friend of mine recommended it and I saw lots of IG videos of the food, and we were pleasantly surprised! When we walked in we were immediately greeted and told to find any seat we’d like.The waitress ( she was so attentive and nice!) came right over and took our drink orders- I had the Rum Punch, so refreshing and not overly sweet and my mom had the Carrot juice… SO GOOD! (A bonus, it helps to calm down the spice of the Hot sauce lol) we ordered the Salt Fish Fritters- BEST fritters I’ve had in my life! ( and my moms Jamaican… 👀 LOL) super fresh ingredients and Loaded with Salt Fish! I also love how there’s lots of veggies/ peppers and scallions, in the fritters. Mom ordered the Fettuccine w/ Oxtail- 10/10!! The flavour of the curry and coconut milk was perfect, and you get a hefty amount of Oxtail. I ordered the Jerk Chicken and it was just as good!
