I've only ordered takeout twice from them, so that's my reference point.
I was both pleased and disappointed. Basil Chicken and Singapore Vermicelli are my favourite dishes on the menu. Both are full of flavour and portion size is good for takeout containers. I would highly recommend both.
Chicken Wings and Shrimp Fresh Roll were a major disappointment. It says on the website that their wings are marinated in their own Thai secret sauce. I think they misused the word "marinate", which implies actually marinating meat in sauce either overnight or for several hours so that the meat can absorb all the flavours of the marinade. What I got was an abomination. The wings had no flavour. There was no hint of marinade whatsoever. They were dry on the inside and I disliked the breading. I was expecting St Louis-style sticky wings in sauce and instead, I got something very different and not tasty. Shrimp Fresh Rolls were equally disappointing. How greedy can you be so as to allocate one tiny shrimp sliced into tiny slices per roll? I mean, really?? Even shrimp rolls from Whole Foods are better and they are not a restaurant. I was seriously disappointed in Shrimp Fresh Rolls from Thai Spicy House.
As to their staff, I have only positive things to say about them. They're all super nice and friendly. 10/10 all around in terms of service and friendliness.
One thing that concerns me more and more these days is what kind chicken, meat, and pork do these restaurants use. Very few use organic animal products and I find it concerning. There's more scientific evidence emerging on the connecting between weight gain and consumption of animal products that contain antibiotics that are either part of animal feed or directly injected. I would like to see more restaurants be transparent about whether they use conventional animal products in the kitchen or...
Read moreIt's disappointing when a place you know can serve good food fails in other respects - accuracy, timeliness, and customer service.
I have been a long time customer for this place. The food is good, however, I urge caution if you're going to order. The efficiency of their order and delivery system is hit and miss. When they're on they are spot on, but when they miss, resolving it can be irritating. The time for delivery can range between quick (about 20-30 minutes from the time of ordering) to more than an hour or so. Although they have been fairly good about bringing the right food, when you receive the wrong dish, which can happen given that some items are similar, they aren't quick to resolve it and don't always deliver the dish when the restaurant is called.
The most recent example of this is from today, August 16. My husband placed an order through a delivery service for a pad thai and a golden curry. The delivery service (not Thai Spicy House's own delivery driver) delivered the food in a timely manner but the order was wrong. The pad thai was delivered but the golden curry wasn't. Instead, they sent a green curry. When we called the restaurant to have this corrected, they made excuses about how it was busy. Once the excuses were done, we were told a replacement would be sent to us. No replacement came. We called back to cancel the replacement. The restaurant offered us a small discount or extra item on our next order, which doesn't address the fact that I did not receive the item as ordered.
I know I won't be ordering from them. I can't say whether in house service is good or not. I know the food can be good (if timely and accurate), but for the time being, I doubt I will order from them for the...
Read moreMy husband and myself have fallen in love with Thai cuisine and have been experimenting Thai restaurants near us. Found this on Google and even despite the 3.9 stars and mixed reviews thought of giving it a try and I regret the decision.
Walked in and could not help but notice how dirty the floor was, I thought it was under construction or something. But they were open. Anyway since we were there we sat in and ordered. We ordered chicken spring rolls as starters and 'Spicy' Beef Chilly Fry with sticky rice for main course.
I could not taste nor see the chicken in the spring rolls, it was only filled with cabbAge and I could have just ordered for veggie spring rolls. We asked for hot sauce on the side and they said it would be charged at an extra 50 cents shocked, not that we couldn't pay the extra 50 cents but really? We've never been charged at any other place for extra hot sauce. We ordered the beef chilly fry cos it said Spicy and also had 2 extra red chillies next to it's name. While placing the order we also mentioned that we like it spicy. When it came it was sweet, it was not only sweet it was VERY VERY SWEET. We could not even have it and had to order another extra hot sauce to make it edible. Wonder what's their definition of spicy! 4.Finally coming to the sticky rice, which is our favorite part of Thai food.. The rice was hard and under cooked and jst inseparable and inedible.
I never waste food and today we had to leave half of the food and did not even have it packed cos it was so pathetic. Such a disappointment. Will never ever ever visit again. For others, there are a lot of other better Thai restaurants in the area, you might want to...
