The Frog: A Firkin Pub — Restaurant in Toronto

I had a great time there with my friends. Food was very good. When I left, I walked out the back entrance of the restaurant to the back parking lot into my car to leave, and drove by the back entrance of the restaurant in order to exit the parking lot. That back entrance of the restaurant appeared to be a common place for customers and staff of the restaurant to gather to smoke cigarettes. Unfortunately, as I was driving past the back entrance, there were several people having cigarettes and one of them flicked their lit cigarette onto the windshield of my car. I got out of my car and asked one of the men having a cigarette (who I knew wasn't the culprit because it didn't come from his direction) if someone flicked their cigarette onto my windshield and his response was he didn't think so. I believe I knew who it was but I couldn't be sure because there were 3 people standing in the area where it came from. I went back to my car to find the lit cigarette and throw it off my windshield but it was dark and as I tried to grab it, the still lit cigarette fell into the drainage hole at the bottom of my windshield where the wiper connects to the windshield, so I couldn't even get it out. I smelled the cigarette burning and there was nothing I can do. I figured it would just burn itself out. I poured water down the drainage hole when I got home, and hoped there would be no permanent damage, although the cigarette butt is still lodged in there somewhere. Unfortunately this is not directly the restaurant's fault, but it was one of their customers, and unfortunately the restaurant is partly responsible for its customers actions. I hate to provide a bad review, but I wasn't sure what else to do to raise awareness. I can provide further details and descriptions of the people (staff and customers) who were having cigarettes at the time of the incident and also the specific location of the restaurant they were sitting in that evening (and the area the waitress was working in) if the owner wishes to investigate this matter. The owner can also hopefully pull the video if there is a video camera placed at the back entrance in order to identify this individual. Once identified, charges can possibly be pressed and police report prepared. But important for the owner, identifying this individual and taking action will hopefully prevent this from happening again and therefore reduce the likelihood of future negative reviews for this...

Terrible experience. Waitresss there are soooooooo rude!!! Downstair one especially*

We went there for the today's nba basketball game/late lunch thing with few of my friends. I've reserved the booth for the group. We've sat down, waited for my other friends. The waitress approached us saying if we needed anything. We asked for water for now (because we were waiting for our friends). She then said it in a rude way about there is a minimum order, we cannot just order water and not get anything, saying that they know us because we've been there few times (all previous times we ordered food and obviously she does not know what she is talking about). Waitress went on about if we don't order anything we will have to move to different table for other customers.

We were stunned and shocked at how rude this waitress dropped that to us and left. (this happened before too as this black waitress serving during evening noted us that you can't just order water and sit in for the game. We were like WHAT DA HELL? because by that time the waitress who were serving us left, and this black girl came and saw the water cups on table and this is when we finished our food and all that left was the water on the table. She sees those cups and bitched at us) We were planning to have enjoyable lunch time with friends while enjoying nba game but they've ruined our mood. We were UPSET. SO RUUDEE!! She was disrespectful. We got upset so we ended up leaving. Before I left, I told the waitress we are not going to stay here and going to leave. And I said, that how she said was really disrespectful and rude. Also how terrible customer service this is. She kept saying they know us because we came there few times, (which all times we've ordered something) where we just order water and watch the game. I said well you know what, we were going to order something, and now we are leaving because you've ruined our mood and this is awful service. She NEVER said sorry or apologized. (not surprised) and ended up watching the game at other pub near by, where we ordered bunch of drinks and food.

Terrible customer service, no manager came out and tried to resolve the issue.

NEVER GOING THERE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!

Like most people I go to at least 50 restaurants a year. But I don’t have post a review for any of them unless there’s something very positive to say.

This is your typical firkin pub in name only. Multiple different environments are available as there’s a main floor bar area and then a second floor bar area. I had to kill some time in the area and planned to eat and have a couple of beers. The brunette young bartender on the main level yesterday was above and beyond what you expect from a bartender. She came around the bar to serve everyone at the bar top tables. Ice, cold, beer, and as I was waiting , the kitchen sent out free tasters to everyone of various appetizers.

The stuffed mini Yorkshire puddings are dangerous. Don’t have it. If you have one you’ll want 20. Stay away. Then they gave us a Chana stuffed tacos. Very very tasty. But I go back to thinking about the Yorkshire puddings and how I could design a magic trick where I have to eat my way out of 1000 of them. Of course, being silly, but really, try them.

I asked the waitress to decide my meal for me. I was stuck between the turkey club sandwich, and the beef dip sandwich. I was very happy when she delivered the beef dip sandwich with a side of tater tots. I don’t like tater tots – usually. They smell freezer, burned and taste chewy. But these, they must be made fresh. No question. I pleaded with them to consider making a poutine with these tater tots, then I said, no! You got to do an oxtail poutine with these tater tot‘s!! But no, wait! We need to do a garlic, Parmesan aïoli tater tot dish.

Needless to say I was drunk on the appetizers and flavours and not on the one beer I had at this point.

There’s lots to consider in this area if you’re looking for something new like a Korean or Japanese based cuisine. But this pub has the atmosphere. You don’t get it any of those places and that’s what I was looking for. Someplace to get lost in for two hours have a fantastic meal, could’ve met new people if I wanted to, but didn’t have to, and I’m pretty sure the owner was on premise and mingling about. Now that’s a Joint do you want to give your business to.
