Visited the Goose last night for dinner. While we had one previous OK experience here, last night was terrible. Arrived, showed our vaccination ID etc. and we were seated in the corner arm chairs.
We waited and waited and waited for the server to bring us menus. Server finally arrived with one menu and one special list (tall brunette with a pony tail). There were two of us. OK it's covid so use less maybe?
A young man brought us some water. We made our dinner selection and waited and waited and waited and waited. She finally came back and took our order. Simple, the pasta special and chicken fingers.
We didn't see either of them again for at least a half an hour. Finally they brought us our food. The pasta was Ok but the chicken fingers and fries were so over done they were chewy and inedible.
I wanted to let the server know but no sign of her anywhere. We finally saw her go to the table next to us (friends maybe?) She completely ignored us to see if everything was OK or if we wanted something to drink. Not happening. We finally had to wave our hands at her to get her attention. By this time another half hour had passed and my husband was 1/2 way through his food. I told her my food was terrible. She asked if I wanted a fresh one. I said no thanks considering the first one took over a half hour to get.
I left my food on the plate sans 2 1/2 chicken fingers I got 4 1/2 when served). I thought maybe the first really hard one was a one off but the second one was equally as bad. The fries were so chewy I couldn't eat them. It's pretty hard to screw up chicken fingers and fries but somehow they did it.
We then waited another half an hour for someone, ANYONE to come to our table to bring us our bill. My husband finally had to go to the bar to see if we could get the server to come over. She had completely disappeared so the original young man who brought us water came by. He then brought the bill and charged me half the price of the chicken fingers. I told him I am not paying for something I couldn't even eat.
He said but you ate some of it.....
I get inexperience or lackadazy attitude but this guy was just rude. I sent him back and said take it off the bill. We never did see our original server again.
Terrible food, terrible service, overall bad experience and would never eat...
Read moreJust came back from dining at The Goose and really enjoyed our experience here for the 1st time.
It's a great location with plenty of free parking space and literally beside a Dollarama which is perfect to run some errands before or after the meal. Moreover, it's just a block from Hwy 401 which is perfect to get on all directions whether you live in the west, east, north or south.
This restaurant is a good decent size with outdoor patio for the summer. I really enjoy the UK fabric sofa at the front of the restaurant. Also luv the mural at the back of the resto near the washrooms.
They have all types of Special deals for each day of the week from Monday Specials, Thursday Specials and even weekends. They also offer daily specials that you can order everyday.
Otherwise, the main menu offers appetizers, snack bites, burgers, fries, pizzas, pasta, curry and the typical pub food. All fair and very good pricing.
We ordered the Daily Special featuring a rose chicken linguine that comes with 2 giant pieces of garlic bread at a good price of $15.99 CDN + tax. Big portion and tasty. Good amount of rose sauce, pasta made to perfection, not too soggy and not to hard to chew. Generous amount of grilled chicken in the pasta. Portion of our pasta were so big that we asked for a take-out box to bring them home.
We ordered a pitcher of Coors Light all for $22 CDN which is a good deal.
Excellent service. Our server came often at appropriate times to ask how we are doing and if we need anything else while giving us space to chat and talk.
The place is modern, clean and well-maintained. You see peeps also eat and drink near the bar.
Peeps can also play pool with pool tables at the back of the resto with many TV screens throughout the resto showing sport games.
We will definitely be back next time to try some other food and drinks and perhaps during the summer season to enjoy the...
Read moreToday I call the Goose to confirm a reservation for this evening Saturday. We go to the Goose regularly. We enjoy the atmosphere and the service. The menu is good and not over the top in terms of pricing. We were there last Sunday and asked our server to book a reservation for this Saturday at 7-7:30. She said she would. I called today to confirm. When I called it seemed as though the person who was a man wasn’t familiar with checking He kept asking me if I wanted to book a reservation. I kept telling him I wanted to confirm a reservation for tonight and I just wanted to make sure I was correct with the time. We always reserve table 20. I must have said this at least five times and he didn’t seem to get it. He thought I wanted to book a reservation every time for 20 people. So I asked if there was someone else I could speak with that might be able to help me better. He said he was the owner Himy. I believe he was offended that I asked this and told me not to use any tone with him. So I said let’s start again Do we have a reservation booked. He finally said we didn’t. So our server didn’t book like we asked last week. I asked could we book. He said walk-in only. I mentioned too him we come every week sometimes twice weekly and usually spend in excess of $200 each time. He told me that that didn’t really matter to him. Wow !! I guess good customer service has gone out the window since COVID!! Don’t think we will be returning after frequenting over the...
