This is a very hard review to write, because there are so many things I loved about this place. So I'll do a nuanced review, break it down a bit, and say that we are planning to come back one more time before we decide if this makes it onto our list of places we would come back to or places that we won't.

WHAT WE LOVED:

Everything is incredibly thoughtful, and I mean everything. You know how you can tell that people really cared and made thoughtful decisons? That's how this place felt to me. The decor is incredibly cozy and welcoming.

The plating is perfection. We LOVE that.

We loved the French-Asian fusion idea.

We loved the location and the layout. It's clean and well taken care of.

Their coffees and lattes were phenomenal. My husband had their drip coffee, I had the lavender latte (which could have been weird, but it was really really lovely) and my son had the roasted marshmellow latte (which he loved). Delicious and we all agreed worth coming back for.

Their potatoes/home fries were perfect. Loved the crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Not too salty.

WHAT WE THINK COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER:

When they bought the food, there were at least 5 minutes between the first, the second, and then the third person. Which was annoying for my husband, because he got his food first and my son and I were hungry... so guess whose potatoes got eaten by the other people? And also annoying for my son, who got his last and was starving. So he was watching us looking at our food.

The eggs on my benedict were not poached, or if they were, they were overdone. Again, the presentation of everyone's food was seriously beautiful, but I need my eggs benny runny...

I love cole slaw, so this might be me being picky, but I felt like it wasn't very tasty. It needed a bit more vinegar.

I had the crab cake eggs bennedict (texture was great, but flavour wasn't quite as good as I was hoping), hubby had the Mushroom melt omlette (beautifully made, but slightly bland) and the kid had the friend chicken & waffle (the jalapeno maple was great, but he didn't love the waffle, which was too normal, not fusion). What we all seemed to feel was this: Design and fusion concept - GREAT! But in the execution, the flavour and/or texture didn't quite come together in a way that blew us out of the water. So... given that it's a bit pricey, we couldn't give a higher number of stars.

WILL COME BACK AND GIVE IT ANOTHER TRY:

Having said all that all, we're curious about other food on the menu and wouldn't mind giving this brunch place another chance. As in, we didn't immediately add this to our list of Never Coming Back and Don't Bother Leaving a Review.

Son is interested in the Yogurt Parfait, hubby interested in the French Toast, and I would like to try the Blueberry Pork Patty Eggs Bennedict. However, I would skip the Rosti, which none of us liked, and try their croissant instead.

I would have liked to give it a 3.5, because it's not quite a 4 and it's not really...

My friends and I recently dined at the restaurant located at 676 Queen St W in Toronto, and it was an exceptional experience. We tried the "Egg Benedict - Chicken & Pear Sausage" and "Fried Chicken & Waffle," and I must say, it was a delightful culinary journey. The "Egg Benedict - Chicken & Pear Sausage" was a visual treat. The food plating was not only beautiful but also set the stage for a delicious meal. The poached egg was perfectly cooked, with a delightful medium-rare yolk that I personally adore. The sauce drizzled over the egg added a subtle and elegant touch to enhance the egg's flavor, without overpowering it. What truly stood out was the rosti base, which was both crispy and flavorful, serving as an excellent foundation for the dish. The salad dressing was impeccable, striking a harmonious balance between sweetness and a refreshing lemony sourness that truly elevated the entire plate. As for my friend's choice, the "Fried Chicken & Waffle" was equally outstanding. The combination of crispy fried chicken and fluffy waffles was a match made in heaven. It was a delightful blend of textures and flavors that left a lasting impression. Overall, our dining experience at this restaurant was exceptional. From the beautifully presented dishes to the impeccable flavors, it's evident that this place takes great pride in its culinary creations. I highly recommend trying their dishes, as they are a true testament to culinary artistry. We left with satisfied palates and a desire to return soon. This restaurant has certainly earned its place on our list of favorites in Toronto.

In addition, I'd like to mention that their service is excellent. The staff at this restaurant provides top-notch service, adding to the overall dining experience. Their attentiveness, friendly demeanor, and willingness to accommodate customers make the visit even more enjoyable. It's not just about the delicious food; it's the combination of great cuisine and exceptional service that sets this restaurant apart.

I hope this review captures your dining...

The owner of this place doesn’t know anything about hospitality. She was extremely rude to us and also started yelling at her own employee in front of us( only for telling us we can park our bikes in the back!!!!!) which was a very uncomfortable situation. And when we politely gave her feedback at the end, she continued arguing with us without any apology for the very bad experience she created for us. On top of that, the seats were uncomfortable, the food was just average and they charged us a fee for paying with card as if paying 13% tax is not enough. We asked about the reasoning and the owner responded: “this is how we do it here”. I wouldn’t ever recommend this place to anyone. I’d take my business somewhere that they appreciate and respect their employees and their customers, any day.

Update after the owner’s response: this is exactly what I mean by “the owner doesn’t know basics of hospitality”. First thing you need to do is to be polite with your guests. The owner could politely told us “sorry you can’t park here” and we would’ve been fine. We didn’t insist or forcefully entered the property- we asked for permission. And yet the owner is still being rude in their response here lol We didn’t lie to anyone, and certainly didn’t scratch anyone’s car!!!! We were 3 people in pouring rain who kindly asked if we can leave our bikes (not motorbikes) somewhere that’s safe because we don’t have the key to our locks and that person said yes you can park in the patio on the back alley. It was POURING RAIN and no guest would even consider sitting outside and they didn’t even have the staff to serve outside. The tables were not set either. I literally waited 15 minutes for my bill because they couldn’t figure out a single receipt. And yet the owner is here writing nonsense instead of apologizing or spending some time taking some training about the business she is in. And btw we were not rude to you at all. We gave you feedback but you couldn’t take it. Learn more...

Golden hour, but make it maple🥞🍁 SOOO… These pancakes are the most decadent, delicious, doughy, drizzled buttery cushions you will ever taste. As you can tell by the sound, I was loving every second of this drizzle. I’m telling you that Toronto is sleeping on this gem of a brunch spot. The Mission Eatery is an absolute MUST try. Their new matcha drinks are the perfect addition to any meal (stay tuned for the most insane chicken and waffles dish I’ve had). Be sure to ask for the Strawberry Matcha Dream - it’s not on the menu yet!
