Alpha’s Shawarma (598 Queen St.) — Restaurant in Toronto

It really breaks my heart to write this, because I genuinely loved this place. I really enjoy middle eastern/ Mediterranean style foods. So I’ve always been on the the look out for the best shawarma wraps in the GTA. Grew up here my entire life

I stumbled upon this place originally summer of 2023. It blew my mind. Bragged about this place to so many friends and family, and I never do that. Been there at least ten times prior and brought about 5 new people to try it. WAS the best shawarma I ever had. Keyword, WAS!

What I didn’t know back then is that this place was new, just opened recently at the time and wasn’t well know yet…well since then they’ve become locally viral online, and the demand speaks for itself.

Unfortunately that means the quality now has also suffered dramatically, so bad I’ll never return.

Was as busy as I remember it if not busier that night. I came late night on a Friday. Nearly 40 dollars for two wraps and fries I didn’t even enjoy and am genuinely concerned I may get food poisoning from.

The issues were, when I arrived a bowl of chicken is being prepped on the grill, guy who took my order wouldn’t let me order the shawarmas with double meat because he said it was late and they still had a line up. Yet, as I was leaving it was ten minutes till closing time and I was the second last person served.

The chicken was not cooked properly and so some pieces had a very gummy chewy texture. The wrap had a ridiculous amount of sauce and I gave no special instructions, just said everything on the wrap. He placed so much sauce the wrap fell apart dripped everywhere and I literally had to throw out nearly half of it and change my all my clothes when I was done.

I live 15km away, and drove 30 km total, paid roughly 40 dollars for a disappointment of half a wrap and I liked this place so much I bought two large wraps for myself and I’m 5”6 and 120lbs. Now I’m tossing a wrap and a half out and never returning.

Time to find a new...

Definitely one of my favorite shawarmas in the city of Toronto they have opened a little over a year ago and they have definitely secured their spot on top shawarma pace for a very good reason food is fresh , pack a flavor , super clean to eat , location is great their service is amazing . All in all definitely one of my favorite spots now in Toronto to go eat shawarma .

I order falafel plate that came with 5 big size falafel with the most flavorful rice I have ever had at any shawarma joint that rice by it self reminded me of a Indian dish called” Briyani “ super fragrant and each piece of rice is richly coated with flavors super tender soft , salad is amazing fresh , sauces they all in house as u don’t just taste sodium in sauce their is actually flavorful and dont make ur belly feel wired after like some those franchise food joints . Hummus and garlic taste like heaven super creamy and if u lucky while u wait for ur food they cut fresh pieces of meat dip it in garlic and have people try that fresh cut meat from the rotisserie . It’s amazing and definitely experience that can’t be bought .

Would totally recommend this place to any food lover and for anybody in city looking for a quick bite on the go service is super fast even when busy . Extremely organized the whole team kudos to the family running this joint with such passion hardworking and dedication .
