I had to wait a little bit, before writing this review, to make sure it wasn’t written in anger. Unfortunately, we had a very unpleasant experience here last night. We arrived around 6:30pm on a Friday evening and there was a very large arrangement of tables reserved, obviously for a large party, so the restaurant was understandably packed. The man who greeted us told us it would be about a five minute wait, so I took our oldest child (8 years old) downstairs to use their washroom, in the meantime. After we came back upstairs, my husband and our toddler (2 years old) were still waiting by the front entrance. After waiting about 10 more minutes, a table of four came available and a lady server announced it was ready. A single young man, about 20 years old, literally threw himself forward and around us, and said, “Yes! A table for four, right here!” and literally cut in front of us to steal our table - and the waitress let him! After seating this young man, who was by himself, she turned around and saw us staring at her in astonishment. I stood in front of her and actually mouthed the words, “What was that?!” to her, and she grinned sheepishly at me in response, obviously embarrassed. Then she actually said to me, “Just let him have it. You only have to wait maybe three more minutes.” Then she walked away. We were stunned at being treated so disrespectfully (we had already been standing there waiting for 15 minutes!), but we still waited another five minutes because our children were really hungry. Until, of course, it became obvious that no other tables were going to be finished any time soon. The real salt in the wound came when the young man’s party arrived, happy and smiling that they didn’t have to wait for a table, and we had to move aside to let them pass. But when the same waitress came by with their hot teas, and asked us to move AGAIN (no eye contact this time), we had had it and walked out. I doubt they cared. So, the lesson here is that this restaurant favours single white men and disrespects mixed-race couples, families in general, and especially children. This is a very dishonourable establishment! We have no intention...
Read moreTo-Ne Sushi is a good sushi restaurant option located near Chinatown by Queen and Spadina. The restaurant existed before the pandemic and offers plenty of seating for guests. Good quality and a good environment to dine in!
The menu is available physically, but they encourage guests to order via their phones using a QR code that they can organize and pay for later. The only drawback of this ordering system is that it does not provide any order history, so one needs to remember what they ordered. Our group ordered a variety of dishes, including Roll Set 3, Roll Set 4, Roll Set 5, a side order of Avocado and Salmon Roll, Chirashi, Salmon Chirashi, and a Bulgogi Bento Box. The Bulgogi Combo comes with Bulgogi, California Roll (6pc), Shrimp, Veggie Tempura, and rice. The roll sets come with a lot of various rolls like dynamic roll, California roll, tuna roll, salmon roll, and more pending on the set you choose! The sushi at To-Ne Sushi is fresh, the rolls are made well, and the presentation is very nice. The Chirashi bowls are also quite large and are packed with plenty of fresh fish. The Bulgogi Bento Box is also worth as well with a generous amount of food.
The staff is friendly with at least two to three sushi chefs always present to assemble your orders. Staff are very responsive and quick to check in on your orders and make sure your water is filled! Their payment system was very seamless with the order system already separating the orders. They accept cards or cash and have mobile devices for card payments. Note, the bathrooms are downstairs.
FYI, they are on Uber Eats, Door Dash, Skip The Dishes and...
Read moreFood was okay and things were fine, but it all changed when a young waitress accidentally poured soup and soy sauce over to my friend's suede coat. No manager was available to handle the issue!Another waitress even came up to claim that my friend was interrupting their work. After a very lengthy discussion, with yet another waitress, who said she was responsible for the floor management that night, as witness, my friend eventually settled to meet with the young waitress and let her bring the coat to dry clean in the following night. Instead of doing what was agreed by all parties, the young waitress brought her husband, denied all happenings and left my friend to a huge shock. That left my friend with no choice, but to take another trip to the restaurant to demand a settlement. She brought me as a witness. We then were there at the restaurant again and had to talk to a different waitress who claimed to be in charge that night. She first refused to take responsibility and asked us to go back another time when the waitress who witness the settlement was around, but finally admitted that she did aware of that my friend's coat was stained and agreed to cover the dry clean cost when she understood that we would take no more excuses. My friend only got the compensation for dry cleaning after spending another hour negotiating a reasonable amount, even though price was clearly shown on the website of a professional dry clean company. This was a very unhappy experience, especially when the dinner gathering was supposed to be a celebration of my...
