Trecce, where food and joy goes to die.
I can't write this review without giving this place at least a one star, in this case I'd love to have given it zero stars.
Where do I even begin? Do I start by mentioning that we were a party of four at 6:30 that didn't get our food for an hour and half? Or do I start with that the restaurant ran out of pizza dough, and half their menu is pizza? At 6.30pm, on a Saturday....
Id like to start with that after waiting for a long time (it felt as if time it self had seized to exist) we requested if we could get a bit of butter and bread because our 3 year old was getting hangry. "Sorry our kitchen doesn't have butter, but I'll see if we can get some focaccia out"- well, the "focaccia" arrived on a large plate. This focaccia was a stamp size flat, cold bread with sauteed onion on top. I guess it was hard for this "Italian" establishment to figure out what focaccia looks like.
After what seemed like an eternity, our food finally came out. The octopus was cold and charred. My grilled fish was raw, the meatball with "home-made" linguine was dense and ice cold in the middle. (Can someone say "refrigerator meatball") the lobster linguine looked decent, if it wasnt for the fact that the rosé sauce might as well have been Olivieri sauce.
The food was so awful, that we asked for the manager. And she decided to avoid coming to our table. After waiting for the bill for another 15 mins we decided to just get up and leave.
As we got towards the exit, we're handed our bill. $145. For food that we didn't touch and left sitting on the table. So we tell the waitress to call the manager, she goes back to call her, she again is avoiding us until I make eye contact with her and tell her we're not going to pay for food that wasn't edible. She proceeds to snatch the bill out of my hand and loudly says "don't worry I'll talk to the owners of the place God help you and God help me"- and then walks right off.
What a great opening for this new restaurant in Toronto!
In conclusion, don't waste your time or money here. Toronto has far better restaurants and this place wount last the month.
Ps. Remember that lobster we ordered? My friends were both feeling sick the next...
Read moreOkay so where do I start. I was at this beautiful place yesterday with three of my friends for the second time and let me tell you, it’s a good thing I like to check things out myself and judge without listening to what others have to say. As we walked in, the first thing we got was a warm welcoming from one of the servers. We asked the server about the chef in the kitchen named Oscar who we got a chance to meet the very first day they opened. But the server had explained on how Oscar, who use to be apart of the team was no longer with them due to lack of recipes/skills and not the greatest chef after all. So they had all the recipes changed and were delighted to bring in some new recipes to the menu, and we were beyond excited to try them out.
We ordered the oysters to start as our app and for our mains a few pasta dishes; trecce Bolognese, linguini meatball and linguini in a rose sauce with a whole Crab. As for the fresh fish we ordered all three which were the sea bream, sea bass and red snapper. As for our sides we tried the roasted beets, rapini and the roasted red peppers (Our eyes were bigger than our stomach) The food was beyond delicious. And let me tell you the bolognese sauce was the best bolognese sauce I’ve had in a very long time. As for the meatballs they were very juicy and flavorful, with a rich tomato sauce to go along with. As I was speaking to one of the waiters, after we had to pack some food home because let me tell you AGAIN (our eyes were bigger than our stomachs) they explained how all sauces were made from scratch along with the flavourful meatballs and everything else on the menu & I had to be a little bit honest with my waitress on how we weren’t crazy about the dishes Oscar had presented us with due to lack of flavour and just everything else in between, but thank god we had gone back to try it again. Second charm is a keeper.
I will recommend this beautiful place to all my friends and locals. Everything was just superb and we will...
Read more@sahar H and @bigrating @sahar H and @bigrating i came here to write a review about this place and i see these two reviews. First of all before you make a review about false accusation tell the full story. i was there that night with my boyfriend having dinner and she was there with a group of people and kids. her kid would not stop yelling in the restaurant and she never told him to be quite. second of all they ordered alcohol and drank EVERYTHING and when the food arrived they ate EVERYTHING again... (if the food wasn't good as you said it was why would you eat it) than she starts yelling at the waitress when its not the waitress fault. She starts yelling in the restaurant saying shes not paying for NOTHING. when in my opinion she should of paid for the beer and wine and basically the food she ate. anyways The manger came after and told them they didn't need to pay because they were causing a scene and the restaurant was packed and the manger didn't want everyone to feel out of place because people go to a restaurant to eat and relax. i was sitting near the door so on her way out she comes to my table saying "leave leave don't eat here'" than leaves. the manger kindly comes over and apologizes for her actions.
Anyways the food, staff and the place itself is amazing. i will for sure be back. i will definitely...
