Made a reservation here for a Thursday evening dinner. I had been here before with my wife but only for a quick drink, so I was anxious to try the food as well. Upon entering we were seated at the back which has very dark lighting. I'm 32 years old and even I found it dark - Hollister style (if you've ever been in that store). I'm a beer drinker, so again I was pleased at the amount of selection, even of their standard beers. The rotating drinks were also a great variety, so I decided to try one (Beau's Blood Simple). Unfortunately - they were all out of it...sadness. I wish they would just erase it off the board. Nonetheless, the Danforth Viaduct IPA was delicious and I moved on to the food. I was a little startled by the prices here, especially with the so many great places on the Danforth - I figured, "this place MUST be good". We had the calamari for starters since so many people recommended it on Google Reviews. It was good, not great, but decent. The portion was good for sharing and the sauce was a nice match. Onto the food. My friend ordered the steak which was a little underwhelming for the cost. $32? He expected sweet potato fries, not shavings...The meat was cooked to his liking but he probably could have much more food considering the cost. I had the 1/2 rack of ribs and it came with a whack of fries. The sauce on the ribs was very nice and sweet and the fries were ample (my friend looked on in envy). The meat was tender on the bone, but again, not large quantities...especially not $26 worth. Then, no dessert menu (it was my birthday so...). Maybe I've lost touch with what things actually cost, but I feel like I could go down the street to "The Wren" or "The Borough" and pay $5-10 less per plate and get just as good quality meal and feel stuffed to the brim. We did not try the famous jerk wings, so I think I'll give 1794 another shot for those. I'll also keep coming back for the beer rotation, but definitely not for the food. I can't afford it, and with other places offered similar quality for their dishes, I can't justify the cash.

I expected more from a restaurant that claims to offer high quality cuisine. The food did not justify the price or reputation. The service was attentive and courteous and Alex our server was truly a gem. Kudos to the mixologist as my espresso martini was superb! However, the food quality did not match the service level. Much of the food was lacking in flavour and freshness. The salmon was cooked perfectly but lacked flavour and did come with a tasty risotto. Surprisingly 1 sprig of asparagus and 1 broccoli tree very strange. The burger patty was generous in size but lacked any type of seasoning, flavour or juiciness. Fries were good but cold. The salad appeared lovely at first glance but underneath were hidden many wilted and yellowing leaves my friend had to keeping picking out continously. There was barely any dressing and it was very difficult for her to enjoy eating. When we complained about the salad, they offered to comp the salad but she would have to pay for the salmon ordered with it. Even though the dish was clearly inedible and of subpar standard. Eventually they agreed to comp the full dish. I sympathize with the industry that is dealing with very slim profit margins, but sending out a dish of such poor quality shows a lack of respect for the customer and for the food. This suggests the chef is either incompetent, indifferent or very overworked. A good chef would take pride in their work, strive to create delicious and satisfying dishes and value the true quality of food. A good chef would never serve a dish that is not cooked properly, seasoned well or presented perfectly. Very disappointed and underwhelmed by my experience.

Gastrobar with elegant decor. Happy to see the kitchen was still open until 11pm on Friday. Both booths and patio seating in high top tables. Each seat inside have the access to dim lighting and charge your phone! Great idea for the busy smartphone user. Service was pleasant and prompt. Nice mix of different foods, such as mac and cheese, gnocchi, wings, pizza and poke. I had the vegetarian gnocchi, good portion of vegetables, mostly asparagus...gnocchi was larger and heavier than usually at Italian restaurants, 1 inch squares. My foodmate had the mac and cheese, very cheesy and a Smokey flavour which is overwhelming for some. The burger and fries look good...but didn't get a bite to review. Cost: Entrees range from $20-$38 depending on dish. Overall: Nice ambiance...would be nice for a date or with friends...better good than just a bar.

I used to love this place and stopped going after a couple of bad meals about six months ago. Friends invited us there for dinner so we thought why not try it again maybe we just had a couple of not great experiences. Two of the people we were with love the restaurant.

The experience was worse then ever. One person we were with asked for a beer like a Guinness. The beer they brought was a light lager. Rather then send it back my partner took it and the other person ordered a Guinness since we didn't want to cause a problem.

We ordered the wild boar pizza which used to be amazing. They brought us the Hawaiian. When we told them they said they would make another pizza. The wild boar pizza came and my partner found a hair in it when she had the second slice. She didn't mention it as everyone was still eating and she didn't want to ruin anyone's meal. The pizza (except for the hair) was cheese and tomato. Not much boar or meat. Not what it used to be and nothing special. They seemed not the care but didn't charge for the pizza (that I assumed) but really weren't that apologetic.

When it came to the bills it took them 4 tries to actually get them correct.

The entire meal was not enjoyable from start to finish.

So many restaurants with better food on the Danforth. If you want a Markham chain restaurant with blasting music, sub par food and disinterested staff then you'll...
