V.I.P. Pool & Bar Snooker Club — Restaurant in Toronto

Went to VIP Billiards on Saturday night with a few friends (about five of us total). We got a billiards table and a ping pong table and were looking forward to a good night. I went to the bar to order a pitcher and two shots, but the server told me to go back to my table and that she would bring the drinks over — which I didn’t mind since our table was literally right in front of the bar.

When she brought the drinks, she had the payment machine ready and mentioned that gratuity had already been added. I was surprised — I didn’t even get the chance to tip based on service, and honestly, I could’ve just grabbed the drinks myself from the bar.

Later on, my wife ordered another drink and some food, and again, the same thing happened. The server showed up with everything and had already charged gratuity again — and made us pay on the spot. Instead of starting a tab and letting customers tip once at the end (which is standard at many places), they charge you multiple times with gratuity pre-added.

This left a bad impression. I used to come here often when we lived in Scarborough, but after this experience, I won’t be returning and can’t recommend it to others. Service felt pushy and the way they handle tips is not...

I wish I could give no stars, I came with my friends to play some pool, we ordered the vip platter, it took over an hour to arrive and my friend bit into the chicken and it was completely RAW, the spring rolls were cold, and when we mentioned it to our server she rolled her eyes back and gave us adittude. When I say the chicken was raw, it was literally RAW, not cooked AT ALL. We are making a trip to the hospital right now to make sure she doesn’t have salmonella. I've played in pool tournaments for around 5 years and am generally a 6 handicap in 8ball; this place is NOT worth the trip. Bathroom was low quality more so then dingy dive halls in basements, tables were in rough shape and needed a new felt. Cues were mostly warped and had wraps tearing off, chalk was down to the bone when after asking for a better one. Also a MINIMUM charge of 26 an hour regardless of time spent on the table is outrageous. Not worth a visit, just go to a bar and play off the table for loonies,...
