I think I got horrible food poisoning from here! Disclaimer: I never have had an issue from Browns before, but on a Saturday for lunch a couple weeks ago I did. I do believe it was from here (but cannot be 100% sure) as my friends and I all had lunch here and I ordered something different than everyone else. I was the only one that got sick. Violently ill like never before. We ate lunch here but was still with my friends at dinner we all ate the same thing for dinner later. But lunch was all different.
I had 2 social sodas and the crispy chicken sandwich. Not sure if it was the chicken (it looked cooked but was not hot; wasn’t pink though, or maybe the Bellini slush in my drink? Something wrong with their taps? No idea). After we ate and paid the bill my friend went to the washroom and overheard the kitchen staff talking and someone scolding another staff member saying something along the lines of “you could have really gotten someone sick”. What? We were kind of horrified by this as we just finished our meals and were wondering what they meant. It was kind of disturbing. But we hoped we would be fine.
It all could just be a coincidence and maybe I just had a violent 24 hour flu or something...but no one I know was sick at that time and I ate different things than my friends. I would never want to accuse a restaurant of something I have no proof of so read this with a grain of salt as I could be wrong. I have no proof but either way, we spent $125 for 3 very mediocre lunches and 1-2 drinks each. I called into report it just in case others got sick. I was very polite and understanding as I cannot be certain. But I wanted to let them know what my friend heard from their kitchen just in case. I spoke to a manager but she said she’d need to talk to the kitchen manager and kitchen staff that day, to investigate, and she took my name and number down and would call me back to let me know their findings. This was about 2 weeks ago and have not heard back. Not great customer service. Again no proof and I’ve never had a problem at Browns before, but just putting this out there as I think their food and service is mediocre at best, and it can be overpriced. Our server was not very...
Read moreArrived for dinner with my grandmother around 630. Which had seemed to be just before there dinner rush. Was seated right away and greated by our waitress. Maria was awesome! My grandmother ordered a Guinness and waited and waited for it. Our waitress came over to let us know they were changing the keg which was no problem. Still nothing for another 10min. The manager came over to tell us they were having trouble changing the keg said it shouldn't be too much longer. Finally our waitress came back and offered something else as the Guinness apparently was not going to happen so she ordered something else with the hopes of it coming sooner rather than later. At this point we were almost done our food. 5 mins pass and still no drink. I had seen the the Guinness tap had started working. I had to go over to our waitress to tell her that I had seen it working and would like that instead of the suggested pale ale. She said no problem. Couple more minutes pass and FINALLY the beer arrives. The manager sees we've finally got the beer and says she going to take care of the beer. I would hope so since it took almost 45 min for 1 beer. The blonde manager wasn't very empathetic or apologetic about the whole situation. Very disappointed. Our waitress was awesome though as well as the food. Just poorly handled by...
Read moreCame here for a hung over brunch and wanting to feast. We ordered a couple Caesars and they were pretty good, expecially with the horseradish that's always a good call. 3 of us ordered the prosciutto Benny and one the corned beef hash. Plates come out and they all look fine except we notice the lack of hash browns, we laughingly counted them and each plate had only 7 hash browns. If you were to take all the hash browns off each of our plates it would equate to a normal one plate serving anywhere else. The eggs were hard and not a runny yolk to be found. Now let's get to the prosciutto or more like where was it. Each of us had one measly slice of prosciutto, thank God we added avocado and tomatoes so the Benny actually had some sustiance. Lastly the corned beef hash, can only be described as bland like white rice or boiled potatoes. Not only that but they gave 2 slices of bread that weren't toasted or buttered and just awkwardly there and offered zero flavor, it was honestly a smack in the face to bread because who knew it could taste bad .. All in all the biggest issue here is portion sizes, stop being cheap and free the hash browns...
