I find a sushi Gio more expensive than most sushi places. However, I also find them better and tastier. Their Chicken karage is better than any in the area. Just wish it came with teriyaki dipping sauce because they ding you every time. I LOVE that their chicken tastes like it comes off a BBQ grill in their yakisoba and their veggies in the donburi is pan fried better than others with a better flavour. I went to almost every sushi place in wlanut grove and some in Langley trying the beef teriyaki donburi everywhere. Sushi gio is above them all but also $1-$3 more than other places. My complaints would be these: expensive and I had a wrong order and at first they handled it okay. Calling me back after talking to a manager and saying they will give me credit for a beef don as they accidentally gave me beef teriyaki. 5mins later the manager called back and said they changed their mind because the beef teriyaki is basically the same as the beef don just less rice (I like rice) so they were only willing to give me extra rice next time. Well, that didn't help me this time or next time as I would have the right order next time and didn't need extra rice. But she didn't seem to see my reasoning so I gave up explaining. I was surprised by the call to tell me, actually nope, we got it close enough even though it was wrong you get no credit. I was not impressed and if it was my first experience there, I would not have been back. Considering the second best sushi place is just in the next complex and they regularly give free extra sushi pieces just cause they love their customers. In general sushi gio is really good, doesn't make a lot of mistakes so they don't have to make up for it. And their extra cost is worth how much better they are. At least for what I...
Read moreOrdered take out here 1st time got food poisoning. I thought maybe just luck of draw so I will give them another try for dine in. Upon arrival, the restaurant was very busy with take out orders as you can see them packaging it at the front but dine in was empty. We were seated at the back next to washroom. There was no one seated around us. I had 2 toddlers with me and needed to do a quick diaper change which they did not have a changing table in the washroom. I had the changing mat, sanitary bags, etc (prepared like any mom is when out) and I did it discreetly on the bench. This has never been an issue at any restaurants i’ve been to. The server comes over as I am mid way changing and very rudly says “excuse me this isn't good for the business you can’t do this here”. I apologized and said I will be quick. She left and did not come back to take our order. We waited and waited then I went to front counter to ask. Again, no one returned to ask how anything was or if we needed a top up. I had to go to the front to request more napkins. I have been a server in the past and this is definitely not what I call great customer service. I would always make sure the families were given what they needed to make the dining experience more enjoyable (water, napkins, etc). We will not be returning here again and do not recommend them as...
Read moreAfter a late evening at a firearms range in Langley, we stumbled upon a cozy Japanese restaurant that turned out to be a pleasant surprise.
First impressions were solid—the presentation was clean and thoughtful, not overdone, but definitely showed care. The Ten Don came as a generous portion, likely more than enough for most appetites. What stood out was how vegetable-heavy it was, and everything was cooked just right. The tempura was crispy, not greasy at all, and the seasoning hit a really nice balance. It’s one of those dishes that makes you stop and think, “Yup, I’d come back for this.”
The sushi was equally good—fresh, clean cuts, and nicely prepared. Nothing to complain about at all.
Now, is this a place that will blow your mind with creativity or presentation? Probably not. But for a casual dinner, it was consistently delicious and satisfying. If I could, I’d give it a 4.5 out of 5, but since I can only choose whole numbers, I’ll go with a solid 4 stars. There’s still some room to push it to the next level, but it’s definitely a spot...
