I visited this location on Free Cone Day with my mother around 7 pm. It was pretty busy, and when we got to the counter, we made a lighthearted comment to the male cashier along the lines of "How many cones have you guys made today?". He shrugged, and admitted it was busy enough that he hadn't had his first break. My mom asked when he started his shift. He replied with 10 AM. Now, I know every workplace is different, but surely this guy could've had a quick break over the course of NINE HOURS... right? I'm pretty sure, legally, you need to give someone a break if they work over 8 hours in BC, no matter the industry. And let's hope he's getting paid overtime too...
I feel bad for this tired-looking guy. No break after 9 hours on the busiest day so far this year is ridiculous. There were enough people working (5+) that someone could've taken over for him. I was left with a bad feeling about this DQ after I got my ice cream. I do hope this isn't a normal occurrence at this location. Judging by the rest of the reviews, the service isn't usually great, and I wonder how much of that poor service is actually just tired, overworked, new(er) employees who don't get a chance to have a bite to eat for nine hours.
How the employees are treated here is reflected in their customer service. I hope what was admitted to me by the cashier isn't a normal occurrence. Aside from this incident, the food is fine. Average DQ ice cream. But is it worth workplace...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCame here waited 20 minutes in line to get to the window after ordering, the lady came to the window just to talk not even give the customer or make the customer infront their food, ice cream etc, not only that but after the 20 minutes when i had finally gotten to the window my two blizzards were melted, one was spilling over out of the cup. i asked for napkins the lady was rude didnāt say anything she handed me then while looking at me strange, when i pulled up to the window keep in mind my two blizzards are ordered were sitting to the side while the man before me his blizzards seem to have taken 20 minutes?? terrible service knowing iām paying $22 dollars for blizzards that are melted and just pure plan ice cream at the bottom, not even the flavour we had asked for meaning they hadnāt blended it fully ....

We came back today and ordered the sundaes and told the clerk what we wanted and that they were free. She answered āyup, drive aheadā. Thought it was odd āyupā, but whatever. When we drove up to the window, she handed us our sundaes and I said āthank youā. No response from her. The correct response would be āyou are welcomeā and maybe āhave a nice dayā or āsee you againā. Nope - nothing. Thought for a moment we would wait at the window for a response, but nope. It was not like these were actually āfreeā since we did pay for the meal combos previously.
