I live really close by this location and have stopped in with my 3 kids from time to time. When the place is empty I find their customer service good and the orders quick. But once you have a small line, you can be waiting up to 20 mins to place an order. But they are still polite. Today was not a good day. I pulled in the doors, with my stroller opposite the cash area and realized quickly how busy it was. I tried to get in line, but with all tables full I couldn’t wheel around them. I had to park by the doors and wait. Two nice ladies in line noticed me and asked if I needed help. I just let them know that I was behind them in line but I couldn’t physically get there due to lack of space. They said ok and got to the counter to place their order. The line then started getting longer. It was my turn and as I tried to wheel my stroller to the counter, an elderly man and woman cut in front of me. Another customer behind them tried to wave at them saying I was next but they ignored him. So I said, “I am sorry, but I was next in line” Which resulted in the elderly woman becoming rude and saying they were next. I wasn’t in line. So after waiting 15 mins in a line that apparently is only a suggestion to some, I decided to just leave. I struggled with the door, and just left. No acknowledgement from the staff the entire time. To the nice gentleman in the line up that tried to give me his spot instead, thank you for offering. To the ladies in front of me for asking if I needed help, thank you for being kind. To the staff, please be a bit more aware of your surroundings. I too work in the service industry so I know how hectic it can be but even just eye contact helps. And to the elderly lady, well I was raised to respect others. Especially those older than me. So I will keep my words to myself but remember, you receive what you give. My recommendation: If you have a stroller, wheelchair, or walker….this place may not be for you since you might not be able to move around with ease or line up. If you are not able to wait 15-20 mins for your order (including in line) might want to...

Tepid tea and unfriendly service. It was late in the afternoon on 15 February 2018 and my elderly parents and I just wanted a nice mug of regular tea. What we got was tepid pots of tea that would not steep because the water was not hot enough and bad service. At first, after getting our tea, we let it sit on the table for about 6 minutes. I then tried pouring tea for my parents, but it was so weak that it looked like lemonade. I tried stirring it with no effect. My dad felt the pot and said it was much too cold and he thought it must have been made with water that had not boiled. When I went up to the counter to ask for fresh tea, I was told that we were the first people to complain about the tea not being hot enough. The two unfriendly servers muttered to one another while evidently unwillingly making new pots of tea. When I went to fetch the pots, they were so lukewarm that I could put my hand on the pots and even hold them in my hand without any discomfort. I asked the one server to try holding the pot to check how lukewarm it was, but she refused. It was clear that these two servers either disliked us a lot for some reason or were never shown how to make a simple pot of tea. They kept saying that we were the first complaint they had ever received. What they clearly need at Mattu's is a kettle to boil water in before trying to make tea and servers with a better understanding of customer relations. My parents did not need this unpleasant experience and I'm sorry I suggested going to Mattu's....

Disappointing Experience – Good Coffee, Rude Staff

I visited Mattu's Coffee & Tea on October 10th around 6:30-6:45 pm with a friend, expecting a nice evening. However, our experience was far from pleasant. Shortly after we sat down and were chatting for just 7-10 minutes, the waitress approached us. Instead of a greeting or asking for our order, she abruptly said, "Are you guys ordering something, or else you can't sit here!" We were both shocked by her tone and the lack of basic courtesy.

When I politely questioned why she was speaking to us in that manner, she rudely insisted, "I ask everyone this, you need to order something or you can't sit here." While it's understandable that customers should order, the pushy attitude within such a short time frame was unacceptable. We hadn’t even decided on our order yet.

Feeling disrespected, my friend and I immediately left, vowing never to return. This was particularly disappointing, as I had been a regular customer for two years. To the owner: if you want to validate this incident, I encourage you to check your CCTV footage.

To others: Don't waste your time at a place where the staff treats...

Pretty chill little casual café. Dropped by for an Iced "Canadiano" and a small wrap for breakfast waiting for a friend. Grabbed a brownie to go for later and enjoyed my breakfast & coffee watching some mindless morning TV as the town came alive on a Saturday morning. The teriyaki wrap is not gourmet but it was way better than a grocery store level so I can't complain. The brownie was great when I had it for lunch desert later. Almost felt like being back in Whistler again. Almost! I would just recommend them to have an XL size for the Canadiano (Americano... Let's not be that politically silly with our "Freedom Fries" moment here guys it's getting really old lol) as I felt there was too much ice and not enough coffee. I would pay for more volume. Will drop by again if in the area. 9/10

I live in the neighborhood and I have been frequenting this coffee shop on the way to work early in the morning. Sometimes I bring my wife and kid in the weekend. The location is convenient with lots of street parking. The layout is lovely with tons of tables. Their coffee is not the best in town but of decent quality. I have two observations: 1- sometimes the service is lacking specially early mornings when there’s just one person working. 2- sometimes the ladies (not all - but at least one or two of the 5 ladies I’ve seen work in this place) seem extremely indifferent and unfriendly. I know people can’t pretend to be happy 24/7 and we all have our issues but a subtle smile goes along way. I hope they improve. We really want to support local businesses so help us help you :)

Great ice cream, decent food, and the girl working when I went in was friendly and trying her best. But as you can see in the photo, the place is packed. There was around 25-30 people, and only one employee. She also seemed to be new, as she was regularly reading instructions. Why is there only one employee at all, let alone someone apparently inexperienced? It’s undue stress for her, and results in both long wait times and incorrectly made orders.
