A&W Canada — Restaurant in Vancouver

I will always love their rootbeer as it evokes nostalgia. It is served without ice because they say the temperature is ice cold and the melting ice would impact the taste. I usually order the Mama burger because it is cheap or the Beyond Meat burger when I feel like saving a cow’s life. The sides are all pretty great here: the fries, sweet potato fries and onion rings are all good.

The only thing I don’t recommend is using the app. Your order is chewed up by the app and spit out differently from what you ordered. It is bizarre. I paid and was charged $51.10 in the app but the order I received was missing one of the sides, and the emailed receipt also was different from my actual order, and totalled $45.65. I had to order and pay for my missing side at the restaurant.

Later the charge to my credit card mirrored the charge on my emailed bill. The manager made it right later. A&W, please fix your app so the manager can get on with managing the restaurant and not mistakes with your app.

I came to the A&W at Oak Street and 49th Ave twice with my nephews. Once in Dec 2021 and another time in Jan 2022. My younger nephew has severe allergies to milk, nuts and eggs. So before ordering I asked the staff for help in selecting foods which would be safe for him. My nephew was dubious at first thinking that the staff would be ignorant of what allergens would be present in which foods as that was his experience with fast food chains. To our pleasant surprise she was very knowledgeable and also had access to a detailed reference manual listing ingredients in every food item on the menu. My experience was terrible I ordered bacon and eggs Sunnyside The way I like my eggs. The order was clearly undercooked the clear fluid on top.of the eggs was evident. I asked the lady at the counter to please have my eggs cooked a little more. The second order was worse the bottom was burned black and the yolk of the egg was raw I asked to speak with the manager and was told she was on vacation.
