The servers and cashiers are all super polite 🤗🤗!! The food is great and the plain coffee with cream and sugar is fantastic!! Most restaurants serve an Arabic blend that my husband and I find way too strong to be enjoyable, Cafè Ami's coffee is so good as it is not anywhere near that strong sludge most places serve where you need too pour out half and then go half coffee and half cream and six sugars to make it enjoyable!! This coffee is great with 2 cream and 1 or 2 sugar depending on taste!!! Their desserts are so divinely delicious!!! I highly recommend there grilled cheese sandwiches or their samosas (they have a wonderful chutney to go with the samosas if you ask🤗😋!!). The samosas are a little spicy, but even for me (been a long time since used to spice) they are ok, slight after burn😉, but the spice doesn't override how good they taste, have tried the chicken and vegetable, will try the beef next, looking forward to it!! The spacing of the seating for covid safety is good and they have placards on the table that you flip over to red to show table needs cleaning when done and is green to show table has been cleaned. They keep up on cleaning, have yet to go in or go by if busy and see people waiting for tables to be cleaned. I highly recommend the cafe to anyone who would like a great cup of coffee and a quiet table or seat around the window for any of their sandwiches!! 10 out of 10...
Read moreEdit: From what I could see the next day I didn't notice gluten free options still so they must go fast. I can say that my family enjoyed the baked goods though, so those are just fine if you don't have gluten issues. When a coffee is made that poorly it tends to be a lack of experience or understanding around brewing espresso. It really was bad enough where I wasn't encouraged to try again and busy enough that I didn't feel up to taking them away from the rush to try and sort it out. I hope it can be worked on is all.
Had a breakfast croissant that was really nice warmed up, but the iced latte I had was one of the worst coffees I have had in a long time.
Super bitter, over extracted sort of taste. Lots of grinds in the bottom in a brown sludge, like perhaps it wasn’t well tamped so got pushed through. There’s a gritty texture on my tongue. Wow it’s just an experience to say the least, like a “you don’t realize how spoiled your are for coffee in this city til you have something like this” experience.
Nothing gluten free that I could see if you had those dietary concerns. It’s something I try to opt for if I can to avoid some...
Read moreI stopped by to grab something small (two coffees and a snack) between 8:45 - 9:00 AM. Unfortunately, my experience with the barista wasn’t a good one due to the fact there was limit acknowledgment (surprisingly dismissive), I didn’t know that I couldn’t pay with cash (snapped at me for asking), ordered and then while paying I decided to skipped tipping option (because I planned to tip with the change I had - which should have been okay, right?).
The barista was watching.
I placed my reusable cup on the counter (holding it out of habit) and she proceeded to dump coffee on me (it was very hot). The barista didn’t say a thing nor ask if I was okay? She just turned around to grab a rag to wipe the counter down. So I asked for something to help with my hand to which she just shrugged and waved to where the napkins and lids are located.
Said I shouldn’t have had my hand on the cup - this was my fault. These things happen but the way this happened was unexpected for a coffee shop based at a hospital.
I walked away a surprised and disappointed at Cafe Ami as a company....
