Well I didn't go for the dog park but the surroundings are totally incredible for a city park. There's a bridge to get to this park area which looks like a well foliaged park path u would be amiss that your traveling over a busy road and train tracks like an animal goes over a busy hwy thinking they're just in the forest not on a bridge. You can also access this area from the infamous Seawall that surrounds False Creek not to far from Granville Island or the Cambie Street Bridge there are stairs to get to seawall and going east ur at the the Olympic Village. So amenities include a sports field, huge playground, a few hills with benches and views, and a generous area of wooded area to wander around and enjoy the stream with little bridges, large rocks to sit or climb on and where the path from the bridge ends is a higher view of the area alas no seating but a few steps away from platform there are benches peppered throughout this forest oasis. So next time on the seawall take the path up past the dog park to the top continue and the path goes back down to dog park level cross a wee wooden bridge go see the alcove that has those old time 3 log fences in a 2 part triangle shape, so rustic, u can go in with or with out a dog, then continue on path to the left and you are soon back where u started your exploration off of the seawall. When its warmer its a refreshing cool from the forest canopy. There are soft lights when its dusk to dawn so enjoy nature and wildlife at night. So go across the bridge, also lit, have a rest at a bench to hear/see the sounds, bike through the area, and enjoy in the day along side the bustle of aqua related activities u see in false creek boats, paddleboards, dragonboats, loud booze cruises one is a pirate ship, the vista of the city skyline that hushes at dusk and calmer water the buildings reflected and a slower pace settles in you see various folks just enjoying the calm amongst the backdrop of a city is a nice place to unwind or go have a chat...
Read moreCharleson Park at night offers a completely different experience than its daytime counterpart. While the stunning views of False Creek and the city skyline are still present, they take on a magical, almost cinematic quality under the cloak of darkness. A recent nighttime walk through the park gave me a fresh appreciation for this urban oasis. First, the ambiance. The soft glow of the city lights reflecting on the water creates a beautiful backdrop. The park itself is well-lit enough to navigate safely, though a flashlight is always a good idea, especially in the less illuminated areas. The quiet hum of the city is still present, but it feels more distant, allowing for a sense of peaceful solitude. The park is significantly less crowded at night, which can be a blessing if you're seeking a quieter experience. There's plenty of space to roam and explore without the usual daytime hustle and bustle. The cooler evening temperatures are also a plus, making for a more comfortable walk. However, nighttime walks also present some challenges. Visibility is obviously reduced, making it harder to see details. It's crucial to be aware of your surroundings and consider bringing a flashlight. Another thing to consider is the wildlife. While I didn't encounter anything beyond the usual urban raccoons, it's always wise to be aware of the possibility of other animals, especially near the water. Overall, a nighttime walk through Charleson Park is a rewarding experience. The tranquil atmosphere, coupled with the stunning city views, makes it a perfect escape from the daily grind. Just remember to be prepared with a flashlight and be mindful of the environment. It's a great way to enjoy the park from a fresh perspective and appreciate the...
