I told the waitress that I had a severe allergy to eggs and asked if the tacos are made without eggs. The server said she would check with the chef and take out any ingredients that might have eggs. I also ordered the Artichoke dip with had a vegan symbol next to it. When my order came, it was delivered by a different waitress and she said they double checked to ensure the order did not have any eggs in it, however, the artichoke dip looked like it was made with mayo and I asked her if there's mayo / eggs in the dip, to which she replied yes and asked me if I wanted her to take the dip away (which I said yes since I'm severely allergic to it.) Then my original waitress came back to check up on us, when I told her the artichoke dip was sent back because it had eggs in it, she apologized and asked if I wanted a different starter. I asked if the truffle fries had any eggs in it and she assured me it didn't so I asked for that instead. When the truffle fries came, they mixed in all the ingredients and I saw a truffle aioli which also looked like it had mayo in it. So I asked if that sauce had eggs in it to which my waitress said it's their signature truffle aioli which doesn't have any eggs into. So I started eating it and then 5 minutes later she came back and said she double checked with the chef and it actually does have eggs in it! By then my allergies were acting up already and I felt like I was being burned alive. I requested for the bill, paid it, and immediately left to go to the emergency room. Overall, the taste of the food is great, the patio was also awesome. However, I couldn't forgive the service since they seemed very insistant on feeding me something I'm severely allergic to. This was especially disappointing since I ate at the restaurant around 4:30pm when there was barely anyone there so they can't even use the excuse of being too busy.
Some other things I should note for fairness: They did end up giving me $20 off my $90 bill without me asking for it and they also didn't charge me for the artichoke dip that I sent back which was nice of them. I still felt compelled to tip 18% (and the option to not tip was not very apparent on the card machine) which I think says a lot about how absurd tipping culture has gotten. Food was genuinely delicious, I recommend it for anyone without any dietary restrictions. The waiters and waitresses were never rude or mean to me. However, I can't justify giving them more than 1 star given that they essentially force fed me a severe allergen of mine... My wife ordered the Salmon Teriyaki, she said it tasted great but the broccolini was harder than a rock,...
Read moreCentral Tap: Potential Untapped (But Not For Long!) Central Tap has all the makings of a local hotspot. The atmosphere is fantastic – they've nailed the vibe, creating a comfortable and stylish space perfect for a casual night out. The service was also a definite highlight; our server was prompt, friendly, and efficient. While I did notice a few hiccups with the handheld ordering devices (that tiny font!), the staff handled it with grace.
However, the food, while not bad, simply didn't live up to the promise of the atmosphere. It's the area where Central Tap needs to invest some serious attention. We started with the calamari, which was a beer-battered version. Unfortunately, it felt like we were eating more batter than calamari itself, a bit disappointment. The wings were crispy and hot, but lacked diverse flavor options. The Nashville Hot chicken, while promising, was let down by a soggy bun and a sauce that lacked that signature "Nashville heat" flavor. The carnita tacos, though the cilantro sauce was a nice touch, needed more sauce options and a bolder overall flavor profile. The clear winner of the night was the chicken tendies – a nostalgic treat with a perfect cornflake crust. Essentially, everything we ordered was "fine," but nothing was memorable. Central Tap needs to create dishes that people will rave about, dishes that will bring them back again and again. Here's what I'd suggest: Invest in Menu Development: Focus on creating unique and flavorful dishes that showcase local ingredients and innovative flavor combinations. Craft Signature Sauces: Develop sauces that are distinct and memorable. Introduce Chef's Specials: Rotate weekly or monthly specials to keep the menu fresh and exciting. Prioritize Ingredient Quality: Use high-quality ingredients to elevate even simple dishes. Address Ordering System Issues: Consider upgrading to larger tablets for easier viewing and order accuracy. Actively Solicit Feedback: Use customer feedback to refine the menu.
Central Tap has the potential to be a true gem. With a few key adjustments to their food offerings, they can easily transform from a "good" restaurant into a must-visit destination. I'm rooting for them, and I look forward to seeing the...
Read moreWent to this place for a dinner get together. The place was casual, nice atmosphere although a bit noisy if you are looking for a conversation place. A bit hard to do conversation as it was a bit loud and noisy. The staff were really nice, attentive and welcoming which I really appreciated. The washrooms were clean and well maintained, same case with the dining area. They also have patio seating. We are a group of 13 and were seated immediately as we have reservations. One thing I would have hope is if they added extra table. We were elbow to elbow and were really squeeze in, not that convenient. As for the food, I ordered the Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl. It was on, but I had better bowl in other places. It taste good but the serving portion was quite small for the price. It was serve in a large bowl but the food itself barely make half of the bowl. The tuna was very small portion and cut very small, the bulk of the dish were mostly veggies. The veggies were were tasty. It would had been much better it they increase the serving portion. Some of my friend ordered burger which they said was just ok and also find everything small portion. The Chicken Cesar Salad I was told were good, as well as the Mexican Street Chicken. It was a bit disappointing as they don’t have some of the items they have in the menu. Overall, although tue service and staff were good, I would prefer to go somewhere else for better value of...
