I've been going to Joey's Restaurants for years now because all their locations have been consistently fantastic. When my girlfriend stated that she would treat me out for my birthday, I chose Joey's. This Bentall Location is one that seems to cater more to the business professionals, as all their food seems to be several dollars more than the Joey's on Burrard for some reason.
We didn't make a reservation as we went right when they opened. That's probably also why we got seated at one of those U Shaped Rounded Booths meant for 4 instead of the smaller tables. We weren't complaining though, as it was nice to have the space to move around. Also, we had quite a few shopping bags between us, so having the extra space was great.
We pretty much knew the menu by heart, so we ordered right away. Since it was my birthday, I wanted something other than my Raspberry Iced Tea, which is what I usually order. I requested a Long Island Iced Tea Slushy. Our waiter said he wasn't sure about the slushy part, but that he'd relay it to the bartender.
They couldn't make an actual slushy for me so they did the next best thing which was to have the slush in its own cup so I could add as little or as much as I wanted. My girlfriend teased me about it, but I love their innovation in that they didn't just say an automatic "No" and actually endeavored to give me what I asked for.
The food came out pretty quickly, and it all looked mouthwatering. One of the reasons I keep going back is their Fully Loaded Crispy Mashed Potatoes. This item is exclusive to Joey's, as I haven't really seen it anywhere else. A spring roll houses the mashed potatoes, in an East Meets West kind of marriage, and the union is heavenly. I really appreciate that they arrange the food so attractively too. Presentation counts just as much as the taste, as it actually makes you want to eat it even more.
We ended the meal with the Individually Baked Apple Pie, and they brought it out on a wooden board, spelling out Happy Birthday in Raspberry Coulis. Really, I couldn't have asked for anything more. And I just have to say that Joey's makes the best Maple Ice Cream I've ever tasted anywhere.
Outstanding customer service, incredibly tasty food. That alone is reason enough to come here. But if you want a reason to run here, all the Joey's Restaurants offer free champagne to their patrons....
Read moreOn April 27th me and my fiancé visited Joey Bentall One and let me tell you we are SO glad we did. Upon our arrival we were greeted by the manager Ashley, the hostess and were offered champagne while we wait for our table to be ready. It was only about a minute before our table was ready. The manager Ashley was super friendly and wanted to know if we’ve been to JOEY before and what our day was like etc! It was our first time there and we were doing an overnight staycation. She wanted to make sure our visit was special and she seated us at wonderful and spacious booth! She assigned a waitress to us who we ended up not seeing too much throughout the evening but Ashley made sure to serve us and check in to see if there was anything we needed. Her service was exceptional and she really made our evening special! The food was phenomenal, we highly recommend the French dips, hummus and tzatziki dip, the steak and pasta dishes! We hope the French dips stay on the permanent menu because they are seriously amazing!! The steak is so tender and perfectly medium rare, the au jus was absolutely delicious, it was tangy, a little bit salty like a good au jus is and the consistency was just right, not too watery and not as thick as a gravy! Do yourself a favour and try these out!!! You’ll fall in love! Everything we ordered was seriously amazing and we look forward to coming back! Also their drinks are delicious, JOEY has the best espresso martinis we’ve ever had. We got it with the peanut butter whiskey and I must say wow!!! It was amazing! Ashley treated us to 2 desserts! Both were out of this world! Crème brûlée cheesecake with a delicious raspberry sauce that said “you’re wonderful” on the plate and it also had a pineapple mango compote, coconut whipped cream, passionfruit mango sauce , and a coconut crumble. So so good! The other dessert was these super rich fudgey brownies. They were so rich and just the right amount of sweetness. They were the best brownies I ever had! We were so full we had to take some of our mains and the brownie dessert back to our hotel! Thank you Ashley for making our experience so special and memorable! We can’t wait to come back and bring our family. This by far has been the best restaurant we have ever been to! Thank you again! Best wishes to JOEY and Ashley for continued...
Read moreWe went here for a work retirement party on a Thursday evening. We had a reservation at 5:15 and were told we could arrive early if we wanted to.
We arrived at 4:45 and told our private room was not ready yet and was told to sit. We were not offered a seat anywhere else to wait (like the bar) or were not offered champagne which was available. We sat and waited. 10 minutes later 2 men walked in and were asked to wait and were offered champagne. Still none was offered to the 5 of us still waiting for our reservation. At 5:05 three more of our party arrived from a different entrance and it seems they showed them to our private room to join the "rest of our party" that were sitting up there which was not our group so they came down to join the rest of us. The staff then seemed confused and surprised that the people already sitting there were not part of our reservation and Suddenly, the champagne was offered. As they figured out what they did wrong.
3-5 hostesses all milling about. None were apologetic or ever apologized and used the euphemism of a "miscommunication" as to why our table was not ready and the fact that they were waiting for our entire party to arrive which they never said at any time until that point.
At 5:20 we were seated and we ordered drinks for 12 people and appetizers for the table. 40 Minutes passed and they had made 2 trips and we were still missing 2 drinks.
The food was very good. Blackened Chicken delicious. Ravioli yummy. Doughnuts so good.
Service was very slow and half hearted. We ordered a bottle of white wine which sat in a holder but turned warm after 15 minutes or was never cold to begin with. We asked if we could please get it cooled or a cold one.
I was offered a box after my meal which took about 20 minutes to come and I had to ask two more times as servers came tidied and left.
We ordered desserts and was one short. But by then it was late and we didn't want to bother trying to get another one.
All in all a disappointing experience. Definitely, would not book any important...
