Food 2.5: ordered the full English breakfast and also the meat lovers omelette. The potato hash was very good, crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. The sausage was suspect at first because of a pinkish middle but we were told it was still fine but given a second helping to amend the issue. It was kind of odd though that the waitress picked up our utensils and cut into the sausage to check again. The toast was buttered and eggs were perfectly sunny side as we asked for. The omelette could've used some oil/butter on the pan to create a better texture as it looked like a crepe at first (see picture). It was also overcooked in many spots. The taste overall was okay, although none of the 4 ketchup bottles were full (we could've asked for more ketchup so that's on us but it would've been nice to have full bottles ready). If you look at the various Google review photos, you might see discrepancies between what you order and what you receive.
Service 3.5: there was one waitress who also cooked our food. She was basically running the whole show. We came at a time when it was not busy but once it got busy I can see that the front of the house was not manned and they might have caused long wait times for service for customers.
Further notes: I had to curb my expectations because of the lack of resources that the restaurant might have. The one person manning the whole operation makes it harder for the whole restaurant to offer an accurate representation of what is depicted on their menu and photos. So if you expect upscale brunch diner style, look elsewhere. If you want to support your local restaurant and don't mind potentially varying food quality, bring your business here. From the experience we had and also compared to other cafes around the area, I don't think that we will be...
Read moreI almost never write reviews because I generally respect businesses and want to support them. However I felt compelled to write a review because I came to the restaurant and the food was just a complete mismatch with the menu and some of the recent reviews and pictures, and very expensive prices as well. I ordered a veggie omelette and it came out as a flat egg pancake with a load of undercooked onions, red peppers, frozen corn, rehydrated shiitake mushrooms and jalapeños. The roast potatoes had little to no salt and tons of pepper and were overly spicy. The menu said: 3 egg omelette with cheddar cheese, sautéed onion, mushrooms and bell pepper. There was no cheese to hold everything together, it was like fajita-style mixed veggies with everything crunchy and overly spicy, and there is no way it was a 3 egg omelette. I did ask them about cheese, they gave me a little but it didn't really help, and they were insistent that it was the same thing on their menu when it felt like something that a college student might make from frozen leftovers and pantry dried shiitakes. Their asian menu looks better and fresher than what they are doing for brunch. Very disappointing as the meal was $26 with a coffee, and very rude behaviour from the server. Even the photo review from a month ago looked like a...
Read moreUnfortunately they were very under staffed and/or very overwhelmed today. Maybe their waffle maker broke too? We arrived at 11 and they took so long to take our order we thought we were supposed to go up to the counter and pay first. When we did they apologized and came took our order at our table. They were quite busy by this point. We eventually got half of our order and it was great - their hollandaise sauce was fantastic. The other half of our order never came. We went up and asked them about it and they said it was in the waffle maker and would be done soon, so we went back and sat down. It still never came and it was getting on 1 o'clock - so two hours after we sat down. We asked again and they said no more waffles today. When I said we ordered waffles over an hour ago and never got them, they looked confused and talked among their team. Then they repeated no more waffles today and asked if we wanted to order something else instead. We paid and left, but it would have been nice to hear an apology or a discount or anything really to acknowledge that they missed us. I hope they can get more staff, or remove some tables or something so they don't end up so overwhelmed that they miss...
